About the Company - FRS Systems, located in Flensburg is an innovative IT company specializing in highly available IT infrastructures and cloud solutions. As the internal IT service provider for FRS GmbH & Co. KG, you can expect an exciting environment with one of the leading specialists in ferry shipping. To strengthen our IT Operations team, we are looking for you as a Senior IT System Engineer (m / f / d) to independently manage and implement demanding projects.

About the Role - IT System Engineer (m / f / d), Flensburg

Responsibilities

  • Design, implementation, and operation of Windows- and Linux-based system environments as well as virtualization platforms
  • Operation, support, and continuous development of production applications in close coordination with business units
  • Participation in infrastructure projects in traditional, cloud, and hybrid environments
  • Administration and optimization of network infrastructure, including routing, switching, VPN, and firewall technologies (basic understanding required)
  • Analysis, troubleshooting, and monitoring of the entire system and application landscape to ensure stable operations
  • Creation and maintenance of concepts, processes, documentation, and manuals for the continuous improvement of IT services
  • Participation in on-call IT support
  • Close collaboration with IT Helpdesk, Information Security, DevOps, and IT Project Management teams

Qualifications

  • You work in a solution- and customer-oriented manner and are enthusiastic about new technologies and modern IT architectures.
  • You have completed training as an IT specialist (system integration) or hold a comparable qualification—ideally supplemented by several years of professional experience in IT infrastructure and system administration.
  • You thrive on technical challenges, enjoy professional development, and actively shape processes and IT environments.
  • You have solid knowledge in areas such as virtualization, storage systems, basic networking, including Hyper-V, Azure Local, SonicWall, and cloud services like Azure and Microsoft 365.
  • Your expertise covers a wide range of IT infrastructure, server, and system operations, both on-premises and in hybrid environments.
  • Experience in planning, executing, and managing IT projects is an advantage.
  • You have excellent German skills and good written and spoken English skills.
