Short description
At the Chair of Hydromechanics and Hydraulic Engineering, we have developed new methods for flood forecasting and the assessment of flood consequences, also in connection with early warning systems. This includes the cascade effect on critical infrastructure. We are also researching experimental work to better understand complex open channel flows and turbulence at different scales.

Your tasks :
Your research activities will focus on Project management, proposals submission, supervision of Master and PhD students. Your tasks include :
Project management of the project BONSAI.Submission of research proposals to DFG, BMBF and other funding agenciesPreparing, supervising and / or carrying out experiments of turbulence flowsGuidance of other scientists in the team, including master and PhD studentsCooperation with national and international research partners and third-party funding agenciesYour profile :
University degree in Civil EngineeringDoctorate in either hydrology or hydraulics.Sound knowledge of stochastic methods and turbulence flows.Development of early warning systems.Advanced knowledge in developing software packages in high-level languages (e.g. Matlab or Python)Essential for successful participation in the above-mentioned project are a high level of interest in the task at hand, exceptional commitment and initiative, and a strong ability to work in an interdisciplinary team.International publications and participation in academic exchange (conferences, reviews, research reports, editorial work, etc.)Motivation to pursue an academic career, including habilitation.Very good knowledge of English.Our range of services :
