Senior Steering Systems Engineer - EPS / SbW

Onsite in Munich, Germany | Automotive Division | Global Tech Leader

A leading global technology company is seeking a Senior Engineer to join its automotive division in Munich . The successful candidate will be responsible for the design, integration, and tuning of advanced Electric Power Steering (EPS) and Steer-by-Wire (SbW) systems, contributing to the development of next-generation driving experiences.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Designs and optimizes steering functions, including feel and feedback, to ensure a refined and engaging driver experience.
  • Works closely with cross-functional teams to integrate steering and SbW systems with other vehicle subsystems such as braking, vehicle dynamics, and ADAS / ADS.
  • Plans and conducts vehicle-level testing and calibration activities to validate steering performance and robustness.
  • Utilizes simulation and validation tools such as CANape, CANoe, MATLAB / Simulink, and dSpace to evaluate and refine control strategies.
  • Ensures compliance with functional safety (ISO 26262) and cybersecurity standards for digital steering systems.
  • Contributes to the development of the Human-Machine Interface (HMI) strategy, with a focus on intuitive driver interaction with digital steering technologies.

Required Qualifications :

  • Holds a Master’s degree or higher in Automotive Engineering, Control Systems, or a related technical field, with a concentration in chassis or steering systems.
  • Brings at least 6 years of experience in developing control systems for EPS, SbW, or comparable automotive technologies.
  • Demonstrates strong knowledge of vehicle dynamics, system modeling, and control theory.
  • Has a proven track record in the design and implementation of control algorithms for steering or autonomous driving platforms.
  • Fluent in English and adept at working in international, multidisciplinary teams.
  • Willing to travel internationally, including regular business trips to China (approximately 20% of the time).
