Your responsibilites

We are establishing a team of chemists and physicist and you will contribute to shaping and implementing the chemical

and biophysical activities in the areas of hit identification hit expansion / refinement as well as lead identification.

From the target characterisation department you obtain validated cancer treatment protein targets for which

biochemical and biophysical screening assays have been established. Within the group you have the following tasks :

  • Contribute to Medicinal Chemistry / overall project related strategies for innovative drug discovery projects from hit identification through to candidate nomination
  • Structurebased compound identification :

Prepare protein targets for virtual ligand screening

Select libraries for virtual screening

Prepare the ligands for virtual screening

Perform the virtual docking search and create a dockingscore ranked list of compounds

  • Support the advancement of compounds through in vitro and in vivo studies to identify development candidates. Discuss the setup of validation experiments with the target characterisation group
  • Analyse results from this group
  • Design and perform hit refinement and lead identification design experiments with target characterisation group and analyse their results
  • Contribute to hit and lead patenting

    • Our Requirements

  • PhD in chemistry pharmaceutics or medicinal chemistry
  • Solid experience in academic or corporate medicinal chemistry with a focus on the following methods : (i.) Hit identification : Target protein preparation for screening from Xray structure library selection or sampling ligand preparation docking algorithm result evaluation. (ii.) Hit expansion and lead generation from hits.
  • Knowledge of computational chemistry structurebased drug design molecular and cellular biology and pharmacology
  • Excellent skills in English at least good oral and written skills in German
  • Demonstrated capabilities in problemsolving and creative scientific approaches
  • Ability to prepare written and oral reports including publications and project plans provide technical input and make presentations
