Senior Specialist (m/w/d) Professional Business Intelligence (BI) Data Analysis & Analytics

YOUR TASKS:

• Extensive analysis and design of Finance‑, Controlling‑ and Sales‑critical BI data models (FI, CO, SD), ensuring robust, scalable and audit‑proof SAP architectures (SAP BW/4HANA, SAP Datasphere, SAP HANA, SAP Analytics Cloud). This includes key steering domains such as CO‑PA, cost center and profit center accounting, general and sub‑ledger structures, pricing/billing logic and order‑to‑cash processes.
• Translate complex financial and operational steering requirements into harmonized KPIs, standardized derivation rules, consistent dimensional structures and robust reporting frameworks that directly support planning, forecasting, profitability analysis and management reporting.
• Identify, analyze and resolve functional data and process issues across Finance, Controlling and Sales. Ensure correct mapping, transformation logic, data lineage and validation rules along end‑to‑end BI data flows.
• Conduct detailed analysis of internal and external datasets relevant for Finance/Controlling/Sales and derive actionable insights and management reporting deliverables.
• Design functional target architectures for Finance‑, Controlling‑ and Sales‑Analytics, ensuring full alignment between SAP S/4 source structures (Universal Journal, CO‑PA, SD processes) and downstream BI/Analytics layers.
• Define and govern enterprise‑wide KPI standards, including clear calculation logic, dimensional hierarchies, data dependencies, documentation requirements and quality control mechanisms.
• Support SAP S/4 transformation and harmonization initiatives by assessing functional impacts on BW/4 and Datasphere models, designing transition concepts, and ensuring functional and technical consistency during coexistence phases.
• Apply statistical, mathematical and predictive methods where meaningful to enhance forecasting quality, revenue and cost insights, and operational steering models.
• Develop and maintain governance processes for BI, data structures and analytics, ensuring clear definitions, transparent ownership, high data quality and adherence to compliance and data protection requirements.
• Act as a functional and technical mentor for BI developers, data modelers, analysts and functional experts, providing guidance, coaching and review to ensure high architectural consistency and quality.
• Collaborate with Finance, Controlling, Sales, IT Architecture and external partners to ensure seamless end‑to‑end delivery of BI and analytics capabilities across systems and organizational units.
• Evaluate BI/Analytics solution options and determine which approaches best support long‑term financial steering objectives and the overall target architecture.

SKILLS/QUALIFICATION:

1.Functional Expertise (FI/CO/SD)

• Deep understanding of Finance (FI) processes (GL/Subledger, Closing, Cashflow, Asset Accounting, Tax & Compliance).
• Advanced knowledge of Controlling (CO) structures (cost centers, profit centers, internal allocations, CO‑PA).
• Solid expertise in Sales & Distribution (SD) (pricing, billing, order‑to‑cash, rebates, logistics impact).
• Capability to translate functional steering logic (KPIs, derivation rules, reporting needs) into robust analytics structures.

2.SAP BI & Data Architecture

• Expert‑level skills in SAP BW/4HANA modeling, data flows (ODP), performance optimization and processing logic.
• Deep experience with SAP Datasphere/BDC including federated data models, semantic modeling, data products and governance.
• Strong command of SAP HANA (Native) modeling, SQLScript, calculation views and performance‑optimized data transformations.
• Proficiency in SAP Analytics Cloud (models, stories, planning integration, BI lifecycle).
• Architecture design of hybrid cloud/on‑premise data landscapes incl. Azure‑based components when relevant.

3.Data Governance & Quality

• Design and enforcement of KPI standards, definitions, hierarchical structures, derivation logic and documentation.
• Data lineage, metadata management, validation logic and quality checks across Finance/Controlling/Sales data chains.
• Compliance with audit, internal controls, risk‑management and data privacy policies.

4.Analytical & Conceptual Skills

• Ability to design target architectures for Finance/Controlling/Sales Analytics in multi‑system SAP environments.
• Advanced analytical capabilities to derive insights, identify inconsistencies and propose structural improvements.
• Experience with forecasting, profitability analysis, performance steering and related analytical methods.

5.Collaboration & Leadership (non‑people manager)

• Strong ability to influence stakeholders across Finance, Controlling, Sales and IT.
• Skilled in cross‑functional alignment, requirement translation and solution design.
• Acts as a functional and technical mentor for developers, analysts and business SMEs.
• Delivers architectural guidance, reviews and ensures best‑practice adherence across solutions.
