Who you are : We're excited to announce a new opening for the Patents & Trademarks Paralegal (all genders) at Surface Solutions to join our team! This role offers a unique opportunity to actively shape the global legal department of the future company GNMI from August 2025. Core responsibilities include managing the global IP portfolio (filings, renewals, licensing) via an external provider and coordinating with external patent attorneys and authorities. You will support the digitalization of processes, draft contract documents (NDAs, licensing agreements), and ensure compliance with international regulations (e.g., data protection), while supporting three regional legal counsels (all genders) in EMEA, APAC and the Americas. During the transition to GNMI, you will help develop global workflows and ensure seamless integration. Requirements include a certified legal assistant qualification or equivalent, 2-3 years of IP experience, proficiency in IP databases, and fluency in German and English.

Who you are :

• you have a certified legal assistant qualification (or equivalent) or successfully completed apprenticeship in law / business administration (or are in the process of it)
• 2-3 years of IP experience, proficiency in IP database
• a friendly and observant team player, excited to learn and take on new challenges with a hands-on mentality
• adaptable and ready to embrace new digital tools for managing intellectual property (don't worry, we'll provide training!)
• fluent in English (most of the time this is the working language) and German (Mandarin would be a bonus)
• cooperative and open-minded professional who enjoys working in an international environment
• detail-oriented, organized, and methodical, while keeping an eye on the bigger picture
• an independent and confidential individual, ready to take responsibility and make decisions
