The Bone Lab Dresden is one of the leading groups in the field of bone research in Germany with an excellent Track Record in the fields of bone and cancer, osteoimmunology, osteohematology, as well as diabetes and bone Within the DFG-funded Collaborative Research Centre DegeneratIon of bONE induced by inflammation DIONE together with the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg, we are seeking to fill a PhD student position for the project of Prof. Lorenz Hofbauer on the role of osteomorphs in inflammatory bone loss.
Starting at April 1, we are looking for a
PhD-Student (f / m / x)
This part-time position (65%) is initially limited to 45 months. A longer-term cooperation is being sought. Remuneration is in accordance with the collective agreement of the Länder (TV-L / E13).
The main focus here is to determine the effect of TNF and GCs on osteomorphogenesis and recycling and to investigate osteomorph biology and function in an experimental arthritis model. This is a collaborative project with Prof. Peter Mirtschink, IKL, Dresden, whos student will investigate cellular metabolism of osteomorphs. Close interactions between the two PhD students are expected. The results should be presented at the yearly retreat as well as at international conferences. As part of DIONE, vivid scientific interaction and collaboration with members of the consortia is expressly desired. The candidate will benefit from the scientific environments of Dresden and Erlangen as well as from the specific measures to support aspiring scientists (thesis advisory committees, mentoring programs, retreats, etc.).
Your profile :
You hold a Masters degree in biochemistry, biology, cell biology or related subjects
You have experimental experience in the following areas : molecular biology, cell culture, biochemistry, and histology
You have experience and willingness to work with animal models
You are a great team worker, flexible and communicative
You have good written and spoken English skills
You have organizational talent, work independently and pro-actively
You enjoy studying fundamental questions in medicine and doing science
