Our E-Assessment department develops the Hogrefe Test System (HTS), a web platform for comprehensive online psychological assessments. Our e-assessment tech team consists of over 50 people : Software Engineers, Psychologists, Support, Software Testers, UX / UI Designers and Product Managers who develop, learn and progress together. We are looking for a Lead Software Engineer (m / f / d) to join our Content Creation team as soon as possible. In this position, you will support the team's mission to bring online psychological assessments to our platform, the Hogrefe testing system.

Your tasks

As a Lead Software Engineer (m / f / d) at Hogrefe, you will be part of our team working on the Hogrefe test system. We help people choose careers that match their unique strengths and personalities with our psychological testing methods. Our products identify learning disabilities, neurodivergence and mental health issues early on and pave the way for personalized growth and development. Join our team to develop scientific software products that change lives.

In this role, you will lead our long-term product development. Your expertise will be critical to extending and modernizing our code and ensuring our engineering teams develop new features according to industry standards.

You will be actively involved in the software development process and set high standards for our software development through a hands-on approach. You will drive technical, cultural and creative collaboration within the team and across the organization and serve as a role model for your peers

You will also lead improvement efforts by refactoring existing services, developing new projects and providing feedback to team members. Your experience in scaling systems will be crucial in shaping our technical and strategic roadmaps for the future.

Your profile

After several successful years of development, the Hogrefe Test System (HTS) has become the market leader and serves numerous customers worldwide. We are looking for a Lead Software Engineer (m / f / d) to prepare the HTS for the future. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys contributing to code, encouraging a technical mindset, creating architecture plans and collaborating with colleagues to achieve common goals.

You have extensive experience as a Senior Engineer and are eager to make a strategic impact in our software development. You are curious, understand the importance of questions and want to grow in an environment that enables discovery while pursuing long-term strategic goals

Your background spans the full spectrum of software development, with contributions to projects based on both the Java ecosystem and modern web technologies You can demonstrate your ability to refactor legacy code and share your experience in building modern greenfield projects. Your knowledge and skills will be crucial to build an extended content creation and tooling team for the HTS platform.

Fluent English (written and spoken) is essential for this position. Knowledge of German is an advantage.
