Hauptaufgaben

Conducts self-employes inspections of 25km of railroad track and associated appurtenances, located at USAG BAVARIA to identify deviations in cross-level, gage, profile, and alignment. Assures rail is maintained in an economical manner; that railroads provide continuous facility use with reduced hazards to life and property; and that the Army's rail investment is protected. Assures accurate and complete identification, validation, and engineering; makes recommendations for maintenance and repair requirements. Prepares track inspection reports identifying necessary corrective action and conducts follow-up inspections as appropriate. Inspections are conducted at intervals mandated by governing regulations by walking, motor cars, or high-rail vehicles at a speed which is slow enough to visually detect defects. Identifies track safety conditions, which require speed restrictions or suspension of operations. Conducts preventive maintenance and repair on standard gauge railroad track and on various railroad equipment, and appurtenances requiring high standards due to mission (e.g. Ammunition Supply Area). Assures higher user benefits, increase maintenance and repair cost effectiveness, and develop a systematic approach to maintenance and repair. Replaces worn rails, angle bars, switch stands, points, frogs, tongue and mate switches, cross and switch ties, etc. Maintains, repairs, cleans, lubricates and adjusts switch points. Installs and adjusts mechanical flange, oilers, spring switches and related equipment on switches. Performs maintenance and repair duties on timber trestles and railroad bridge by shimming parts of trestles or bridge with wooden or metal shims to proper elevation to maintain smooth surface, and tightening metal braces and fastenings as required. Performs maintenance and repair duties while operating rail mounted hydraulic equipment. Operates two-way-UNIMOG to raise rails and grade rail beds as directed. Loads material such as rails, ties, ballast, and tools on motor cars and trailers and unloads at work site. Operates a Ballast Regulator to fill roadbed drainage, etc., by resurfacing or ballasting, removing obstructions and debris from drainage ditches, and a Brush cutter is used to cut weeds along the railroad right-of-way. Operates and performs driver maintenance on ½ ton to 5-ton trucks, and motor maintenance cars in hauling materials, personnel, and equipment to work site.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifikationsanforderungen

A4-3546-05 :

Completed vocational training of at least 30 months in the appropriate trade. /

5 years of specialized experience. /

A4-3546-06 :

Completed vocational training in the appropriate trade PLUS 2 years experience at a level of difficulty comparable to the Wage Group 5 or equivalent. The applicant must be able to perform the duties independently. /

Abgeschlossene Berufsausbildung in der entsprechenden Gewerbegruppe mit einer Ausbildungsdauer von mindestens 30 Monaten, PLUS 2 Jahre Berufserfahrung in der Lohngruppe 5 oder in, vom Schwierigkeitsgrad vergleichbaren Taetigkeiten, welche selbstaendig ausgeuebt wurden.

8 years of specialized experience of which 3 years must have been performed at the wage group 5 or equivalent level. /
