EXTERNAL Local National Applicants, who reside in Germany.
This position is a Nonappropriated Fund Position.
Hauptaufgaben
Serves as a desk clerk and a reservations clerk.
a. As a Desk Clerk, checks guests in and out. Posts charges through the computer system. Welcomes incoming guests, assigns guests clean and appropriate rooms using the computer system, checks them in and has them verify information. Directs guests to appropriate rooms. Posts all charges incurred during guests stay. Prepares guest's bill using the computer system, and accepts and posts payment to the guest's account upon checkout. Provides information to guests regarding leisure activities available in the local area, such as sports events, entertainment programs, tours, dining facilities, hours of operation, etc. Provides currency exchange for guests, uses Euro conversion funds accurately, and sells tours and other event tickets. Operates telephone switchboard to connect incoming calls, and to answer in-house calls. Accounts for hotel keys and issues and receives same from guests, following established procedures. Provides helpful and friendly service to guests at all times. Keeps the front desk and other work areas in a clean and orderly manner. Controls and is responsible for funds during shift.
b. As a Reservations Clerk, makes, changes, and cancels reservations through the system. Receives telephone calls, letters, faxes from potential guests requesting information and advance room or recreation reservations. Analyzes room availability and avoids overbooking, unless directed by management. Coordinates all overflow with the local tourist office. Provides information to include room or facility rates, deposit required and due date, cancellation policies, and registration procedure. Receives and accounts for advance deposits, and sends confirmation to guests. Maintains guest reservation figures in regards to turndown business and reservations processed. Recommends alternate dates if requested dates are unavailable. Refers guests to alternate local hotels, if no rooms are available in Billeting Facility during guests' desired dates of stay. Maintains an orderly work area at all times.
Performs other duties as assigned.

H-4 :
E&T Level I : 2 years of job related experience.
Exception : Applicants, who do not meet E&T Level I must have 1 year of general experience in accommodation, catering or service facilities, in an office or store, telephone marketing, arranging for events or as a cashier, etc. and 2 years of job related experience.
E&T Level II : 1 year and 6 months of job related experience. With a completed apprenticeship in an accommodation facility, only 1 year of job related experience is required.
E&T level III : 1 year of job related experience. With a completed apprenticeship in an accommodation facility, no additional experience required.
E&T Level IV : 6 months of job related experience. With completed education in an accommodation facility, no additional experience required.
E&T Level V : no experience required.
Exception : Current employees who have serviced 1 year in the same or similar occupational series, are qualified for the next higher grade level.
English and German Language Proficiency level C1 required.
