Hauptaufgaben

As BASOPS Maintenance Directorate (MD), Assurance and Verification Inspector the incumbent performs technical and administrative inspections of the in house and contractual maintenance and repair services for a wide variety of makes and models equipment. These include but are not limited to : steam cleaner, ventilation hoods, sandblasting and enamel, cranes, hoist platforms, alarm / video / camera systems, electric / hydraulic lifts, electric / hydraulic ramps, electric power tools, shredder, generator / mobile lamp pole, electronic analyzer, kitchen appliances, emergency and other system inspections. All required work is recorded for issuance of formal work order to in house repair personnel and / or contractor. During and after completion of repair work, inspections are conducted with in house repair personnel and / or a contractor representative for adequacy and completeness. Items inspected involve all types of work that BASOPS is involved in. Inspections are performed according to the Army Standards, Host Nation Standards, contract specifications, the appropriate DIN, VOB, and VDE regulations, and the manufacturer standards for equipment. Strict controls are enforced concerning the Contractors and Government furnished materials. Deficiencies are noted and contractor is notified to initiate corrective actions. Proper execution of follow-up corrective work is ascertained. Repetitive and uncorrected deficiencies are brought to the attention of the Maintenance Manager. Inspection records and diaries keeping memoranda on discussion with contractor and supervisor are maintained. Supervisor is advised on validity of claims received from contractor. Serves as Government Contracting Officer Representative for various contract local service centers and will advise the contractors on effective repair and maintenance methods, the U.S. Army supply system and documentation required by applicable contracts. Problems of an operational nature as well as those which may occur with the contractor will be solved at inspector / COR level where possible. This requires the ability to clearly explain the Government's point of view, Government regulations and contractual documents. Situations that cannot be solved at inspector / CPR level will be elevated to the Contracting officer and or Maintenance Manager for determination and further guidance. Reviews reports for accuracy, identification of problem areas or inconsistencies for in house personnel or contractor personnel performance and delays in performance of services due to material shortages or non-availability of replacement equipment. Requests, distributes, and interprets technical literature. Serves as advisor to the Maintenance Manager responsible for the day-to-day management of contracts for repair and maintenance of electrical / electronic equipment. Examines all work orders / maintenance requests upon completion and checks that work performed and data given as well as price charged are correct.

Performs other duties as assigned.

C-5a :

1. Following qualification standards apply for internal placements.

E&T Levels I : 3 years of creditable experience type a, defined below; and 1 year of creditable experience type b, defined below.

E&T Levels II : 2 years of creditable experience type a, defined below; and 1 year of experience type b, defined below.

E&T Levels III A is creditable with a directly or closely related apprenticeship or specialization / certification to the trade of the position; PLUS 1 year of creditable experience type a, defined below; and 1 year of experience type b, defined below.

E&T level, III B, C PLUS 1 year of creditable experience type b, defined below.

E&T Levels IV A, B, and C, are creditable with a directly or closely related apprenticeship or specialization / certification to the trade of the position; no additional experience required.

E&T level, IV D is not creditable to use for substitution of experience. Individuals with these E&T Levels must demonstrate knowledge and experience in the trade of the position.

E&T Level V : creditable with a directly or closely related field of study to the trade of the position; no additional experience required. If the study is not in a directly or closely related field, the individuals must demonstrate knowledge and experience in the trade of the position.

Creditable Experience Type a : Journeyman or equivalent level experience in the trade or in a closely related trade that is to be performed in the position. Creditable Experience Type b : Experience as an inspector or specialist in the same or similar trade in the same or similar position. Creditable experience must have been gained at a level of difficulty that is comparable to the next lower grade.

Exceptions :

1) Current employees in the same or similar inspector or specialist positions who have served one year in their current grade qualify for the next higher grade, regardless of their E&T Level. (2) Current employees who have served one year in a foreman position without official certification as foreman (Meisterbrief) in the same or similar occupation qualify up to the C-6 level. (3) In the absence of qualified applicants, a waiver of qualification requirements may be initiated in order to promote or reassignment current employees who have already been performing same or similar work.

2. Following qualification standards apply for external placement :

E&T level I, IIA, III B and C and IV D : Not acceptable for positions in this occupational series.

E&T Levels IIB : Only creditable with a directly or closely related apprenticeship or specialization / certification to the trade of the position; PLUS 2 years of creditable experience type a, defined below; and 1 year of experience type b, defined below.

E&T Level III A : is creditable with a directly or closely related apprenticeship or specialization / certification to the trade of the position; PLUS 1 year of creditable experience type a, defined below; and 1 year of experience type b, defined below.

E&T Level IV A, B, and C and V : Only creditable with a directly or closely related apprenticeship, specialization / certification or study to the trade of the position; no additional experience required.

E&T Level V : creditable with a directly or closely related field of study to the trade of the position; no additional experience required. If the study is not in a directly or closely related field, the individuals must demonstrate knowledge and experience in the trade of the position.

Creditable Experience Type a : Journeyman or equivalent level experience in the trade or in a closely related trade that is to be performed in the position. Creditable Experience Type b : Experience as an inspector or specialist in the same or similar trade in the same or similar position. Creditable experience must have been gained at a level of difficulty that is comparable to the next lower grade.

Exceptions : In the absence of qualified applicants, a waiver of qualification requirements may be initiated

  • Applicants must be in possession of a German driver's license class B.
  • Office automation skills are required.
  • GCSS-A (Global Combat Support System - Army) skills desired.
  • COR Training desired.

LANGUAGE PROFICIENCY LEVEL :

English Language Proficiency level B2 AND German Language Proficiency level C1 required.
