Your Mission
Radical Dot is hiring for an Electrical & Automation Engineer (E&I) (m / w / o) who will fearlessly lead efforts on the scale up development of our breakthrough technology to recycle mixed plastic waste into key chemical building blocks moving beyond pyrolysis, gasification and other know technologies.
As an early-stage start-up, we are looking for a hands-on engineer who thrives in a dynamic and multi-disciplinary environment. You will play a critical role in the run of our upcoming demonstration plant (100-200 kg / day input plastic), contributing directly to the success of our mission to address the global plastics crisis.
Tasks
Your Role
You will be responsible for the design, specification, and integration of electrical systems and process automation for our first-of-a-kind chemical recycling demonstration plant. This is a hybrid role combining instrumentation / control and electrical engineering tasks, ideal for someone who thrives in dynamic environments and enjoys working across disciplines.
Your Responsibilities
Instrumentation & Control
Define and specify sensors, transmitters, actuators, and control loops
Develop control philosophies and automation strategies (PLC / DCS)
Support creation of P&IDs and instrumentation layouts
Interface with EPC partner on control system integration
Participate in HAZOP and SIL reviews
Electrical Engineering
Design and review low-voltage electrical systems and cable routing
Specify switchgear, MCCs, transformers, and UPS systems
Ensure compliance with electrical safety standards (VDE, IEC)
Coordinate with vendors and EPC on electrical installation
Support commissioning and troubleshooting of electrical systems
Cross-functional
Collaborate with process, mechanical, and operations engineers
Assist in FAT / SAT procedures and documentation
Support cold and hot commissioning phases
Contribute to operational readiness and scale-up planning
Requirements
Your Skillset
- Degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation Technology, Mechatronics, or related field
- 3+ years of experience in industrial automation and electrical design
- Familiarity with process industries (chemical recycling, oil&gas, chemicals, pharma, energy, etc.)
- Hands-on experience with PLC / DCS systems (e.g. Siemens, ABB, Beckhoff)
- Experience with pilot projects, startups, or fast-paced, high-iteration environments is a plus
- Demonstrated ability to anticipate technical issues and apply creative, hands-on problem-solving in fast-paced environments.
- Comfortable working in a small, agile team with a proactive and flexible mindset.
- Knowledge of German safety and permitting standards is a plus
- Fluent in English; German proficiency is a bonus

Radical Dot is a climate-tech startup based in Munich, Germany, which was established in 2024, by Alex & Andi . Our technology transforms non-recyclable plastic waste into essential chemical building blocks (e.g., acetic acid).
We are hosted in the TU Munich Venture Labs ChemSPACE, where we validated our proof of concept, further improve the technology and take steps to scale up. We have submitted
our first patent application and run several reactor systems, putting us at approximately TRL 4.
We closed a 2.7m€ Pre-Seed round in Q1 2025 to scale the team and technology.
