Job Summary :

As the Health and Safety Representative, you will serve as the vital link between Walt Disney Imagineering and the shipyard, ensuring that all health and safety standards and regulations are met during the construction of Disney ships projects. You will play a crucial role in safeguarding the well-being of workers, visitors, and the environment by implementing and monitoring health and safety protocols. Additionally, you will support the Safety Manager with inspections and commissioning of ship safety systems.

This position is on-site in Papenburg, Germany and will report to the Safety Manager.

Responsibilities :

Act as the primary point of contact for all health and safety matters between Walt Disney Imagineering and the shipyard.

Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive health and safety policies and procedures in compliance with local regulations and Disney standards.

Conduct regular inspections and audits to identify potential hazards and ensure adherence to safety protocols.

Provide guidance and training to employees and contractors on safety procedures, emergency protocols, and best practices.

Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses, and develop strategies to prevent their recurrence.

Collaborate with project managers, and other stakeholders to integrate safety measures into project planning and execution.

Liaise with regulatory agencies and industry organizations to stay updated on relevant health and safety legislation and industry best practices.

Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of safety programs and initiatives, and recommend improvements as needed.

Maintain accurate records and documentation related to health and safety activities, including incident reports, training records, and safety data sheets.

Assist the Safety Manager with the coordination and monitoring of the construction / installation progress for the different safety disciplines and systems which are part of the USCG ICOC examinations.

Participate to the assigned official shipyard inspections, including but not limited to : Structural Fire Protection, Watertight Integrity, Means of Escape, Fixed firefighting, Fire Detection and Alarm system, Lifesaving appliances, safety, security, environmental and medical equipment.

Assists the Safety Manager with the Test & Trials process regarding the safety systems.

Serve as an advocate for a safety culture by promoting awareness, accountability, and continuous improvement throughout the organization.

Required Qualifications :

Shipboard experience

Certification in Occupational Health and Safety (., NEBOSH, IOSH, ISO 45001) preferred.

Certified Health and Safety Professional (CHSP) or equivalent chartered certification preferred.

Knowledge of relevant health and safety regulations standards.

Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify and mitigate safety risks.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively liaise with stakeholders at all levels.

Ability to work independently and make decisions in a fast-paced environment.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and other relevant software applications.

Fluent in English and preferable in German (written and spoken).

Flexibility to travel as needed.

Required Education :

Bachelor's degree or equivalent
