Our polycarbonate R&D team designs and develops product solutions for our B2B business in attractive target markets. This includes both the design of new polymer input materials and the optimisation of properties through targeted formulation.
These are your tasks :
As part of our team, you will support us at the Leverkusen site in the development of new thermoplastics.
For a period of 6 months, you will have the opportunity to work independently on your own project in the laboratory. This includes the independent organic synthesis of monomers with the aim of developing new starting materials for innovative thermoplastics. The monomers you produce will then be tested for their applicability in polymer syntheses using familiar methods.
You will be responsible for planning, carrying out and documenting this work. You will be supported by our team.
In close co-operation with the analytical departments, you will also be responsible for the independent interpretation of the analysis results.
You will have the opportunity to accompany upscaling experiments of selected polymer structures.
Presenting your results to colleagues and project partners is also part of this internship.
In addition to working in your own laboratory area, you will also familiarise yourself with other processes at our company and gain exciting insights into our culture and innovative strength.
WHAT YOU OFFER
You have at least a Bachelor's degree in chemistry, business chemistry or polymer chemistry and are currently studying for a Master's degree or are in the gap year between Bachelor's and Master's / Master's and doctorate.
You would like to gain insights into the chemical industry and gain practical experience.
You have basic knowledge of organic synthesis, polymer synthesis and / or the relevant analytics (e.g. NMR, GC, GPC).
You have a good knowledge of MS Office.
A structured way of working is a matter of course for you.
You are characterised by your ability to work in a team and strong communication skills.
A sense of safety and responsibility as well as an active willingness to learn round off your profile.
A very good knowledge of German is a prerequisite.
A good command of English is an advantage.
We offer the internship from 01.10.2024 or later for a period of 6 months.
