W e are hiring a Senior Non-Life Treaty Underwri ter for our reinsuran ce business with primary responsibility for the leadership and development of our P&C portfolio in the DACH region , amongst others .

We are looking for experienced candidate s who are fluent German speakers , have a strong profile / track record in the se markets, are well networked with key stakeholders and have previous portfolio management experience over a minimum period of 5 years.

This is an exciting opportunity offered at a time when QBE Re is expanding its global footprint and diversifying its portfolio mix .

We are open to discuss the location of hire and could accommodate the right candidate in Germany, Brussels or Dublin .

Your New Role : ""

• Support the development of the annual business plan for the portfolio and ensure delivery of the plan
• Ensure the team's awareness of the business plan and its context, to be able to make decisions appropriately
• Contribute and participate in all meetings, in order to share and develop strategy, knowledge and best practice
• Positively promote the department, division and company as a whole, to maximize brand leverage
• Perform complex underwriting activities in accordance with all legal and regulatory requirements to ensure obligations are met
• Adhere to underwriting standards, instructions and good practice to minimize risk and maximize efficiency
• Act as a technical expert to support the identification of issues and opportunities within area of expertise
• Establish and strengthen strong relationships with stakeholders including customers, brokers, business partners and colleagues, to maximize influence and achieve business objectives
• Demonstrate understanding and awareness of market dynamics and market cycle to drive and enhance business performance
• Continually develop expertise and technical knowledge through identifying and implementing appropriate learning and development activities
• Underwrite treaty risks in accordance with the business plan and the personal authority to meet business objectives, including : | negotiating rates, terms and conditions for existing and new business | Compliance of production and issue of contract certainty documentation | ensuring compliance with internal and external regulations and guidelines | ensuring contribution to the business plan and objectives | Support credit control in payment collection
• Contribute and influence in the review and analysis of the portfolio to identify progress toward business objectives
• Ensure entries are properly and promptly recorded on EO systems to ensure accuracy of data, in relation to : | Underwriting | Aggregate exposures
• Contribute to the aggregate management and peer review processes to encourage and develop excellence
• Manage resources across the team to ensure business requirements are achieved
• Motivate and develop the team by demonstrating good leadership behaviours and management best practice to support the achievement of business goals
• Manage performance fairly and in line with performance processes
