Project P3 : 3D-printed microoptics for efficient coupling of quantum components
to be filled by 1 September for a contract period of 3 years
Quantum physics has led to a large number of applications in the fields of quantum sensor technology, quantum computing, quantum cryptography and quantum metrology. Our goal is to develop quantum technology prototypes that work in realistic environments and are compatible with current industry standards. This endeavor is only possible through the combined efforts and knowledge of physics and engineering. Moreover, it requires a new type of professional group : photonic quantum engineers. The goal of the training group is to give PhD researchers the possibility to graduate especially within this interdisciplinary field. Focus of our project is that non-classical light sources, such as single quantum dots or NV centers, need to be efficiently coupled to the other components of the quantum or photonic network.
Please find more information here : aim of the project P3 is to employ modern 3D-printing technologies to develop micro-optical components to minimize the loss, increase the efficiency and maximize the level of integration. In detail we want to design and fabricate highly efficient micro-optical and micro-alignment systems via 3D femtosecond direct laser writing to maximize the transfer of photons from the quantum dot to a single mode optical fiber.
Excellent master degree in optical engineering or physics (with emphasis on optics)
Theoretical and practical experience in optical system design and realization
Ideally Experience in Two-Photon-Lithography and in micro-optical fabrication techniques
Experimental skills and practical Lab-Experience
Communication and team skills
Desire to work in an interdisciplary and international team
