Your Tasks
BakerHicks has an exciting opportunity for an ambitious high voltage engineer to support in the expansion into new markets and develop their own team.
Following several very successful years in the power sector in the UK, the BakerHicks power team is expanding to mainland Europe. Headquartered in Switzerland, with offices in Germany, Austria, Belgium, and Denmark, BakerHicks is now offering design services for HV cables, OHL, Substations, HVDC, and Power systems projects across Europe.
BakerHicks is now searching for an ambitious engineer to lead the development of a new team to cover the DACH region. The ideal candidate has specialist knowledge in one of the following fields; HV cables, Overhead lines, or Substations, and has experience working on Transmission Networks in the DACH region.
The candidate will work closely with and be supported by the existing power team in the UK and will have the opportunity to work on a diverse range of projects across Europe and the UK.
This opportunity is open to those with leadership experience or those looking to take the next step in their career.
Your Profile
The candidate will be closely supported by the highly experienced team in the UK, as well as the existing BakerHicks teams in Europe who work in other sectors.
The candidate must have experience in the production of or management of designs, calculations, reports, and drawings for HV power transmission systems, HVDC interconnectors, or
HV renewable energy infrastructure, in the DACH region (Germany, Austria, Switzerland).
The candidate must have full working proficiency in both German and English.
The candidate must have specialist knowledge in one of the following areas; HV cable design, Overhead line design, and Substation Primary design.
The role will involve occasional travel to BakerHicks offices in London and may involve travel around the DACH region depending on client requirements.
While developing new workstreams, there will be the opportunity to work with existing clients and on existing projects in the UK.
An existing network of client contacts in the DACH region is a bonus, but not critical.
Traveling activity
The duration of our projects is usually between 6 and 24 months. Depending on the project and the project phase, the work location is mainly the project location at the customer, although mobile working from home is sometimes possible in consultation with the project management. At BakerHicks you have the opportunity to work with different customers and different technologies. You get to know new cities and are still always at home on weekends.
