DKFZMainz, DEDoktorand oder Post-Doc "Computational Resilience Research"
Leibniz-GemeinschaftMainzPostdoctoral Researcher in Cancer Immunity
Deutsches Krebsforschungszentrum (DKFZ)MainzResearch for a life without cancer” is our mission at the German Cancer Research Center. We investigate how cancer develops, identify cancer risk factors and look for new cancer prevention strategies. We develop new methods with which tumors can be diagnosed more precisely and cancer patients can be treated more successfully. Every contribution counts – whether in research, administration or infrastructure. This is what makes our daily work so meaningful and exciting. The German Cancer Research Center (DKFZ) is the largest biomedical research center in Germany. With more than 3, employees, we run an extensive scientific program in the field of cancer research. In the new Helmholtz Institute for Translational Oncology (HI-TRON) Mainz, the DKFZ cooperates with the Research Institute for Translational Oncology at the University Medical Center of Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz (TRON gGmbH), the Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz (JGU) and the University Medical Center Mainz. The aim of this partnership is to develop pioneering immunotherapies at HI-TRON and to identify new biomarkers for the effectiveness of the treatment. For the Dermal Oncoimmunology Lab in Mainz we are seeking for as soon as possible a Postdoctoral Researcher in Cancer Immunity Reference number : -
- Mainz
- Full-time
- Dermal Oncoimmunology The Dermal Oncoimmunology Lab (headed by Dr. Hafsa Munir) places fibroblasts at the centre of the immune-regulatory networks in cancer and autoimmunity. We aim to alter the state of fibroblasts in skin cancer towards an autoimmune-like state to induce robust anti-tumour immunity as a novel therapeutic strategy to treat cancer. We are using a combination of single cell proteomic (spectral flow cytometry and immunofluorescence) and genomic (RNA sequencing and spatial transcriptomics) to analyse the state of fibroblast-immune interactions in these disease contexts in primary patient samples and mouse models. We aim to utilise mouse models and complex 3D bioengineered organ-on-chips to analyse the effects of fibroblast manipulation on anti-tumour immunity. Our group is currently looking to recruit an outstanding and highly motivated postdoc to support the development of this research program. Your Tasks This postdoctoral project will investigate the interactions between fibroblasts and infiltrating immune cells during the initiation and development of cancer and autoimmune diseases of the skin. In co-operation with the group leader, the candidate will be responsible for the day-to-day design, execution and analysis of experimental data. The candidate will further manage collaborations with research groups within and outside of the DKFZ, including clinical partners in Mainz and Heidelberg. Additionally, the successful candidate will present their results at the internal group meetings and at external conferences. Furthermore, the training and supporting of other members of the lab will be an essential part of the role. Long term, successful candidate will contribute to the direction of the research program and contribute to submission of grant applications. Our lab is a highly interdisciplinary and diverse research environment. We offer the successful candidate a unique opportunity to develop skills in in vitro, in vivo and bioengineered 3D culture systems to model and study these disease processes at high resolution. We aim to recruit a candidate who is open to using multidisciplinary approaches to tackle the research question. As a member of our team you will have a chance to develop your research interests and progress your career as an independent researcher. Your Profile Applicants should hold a master's degree and PhD in the field of immunology in cancer or autoimmune disease. Relevant experience in designing, performing and analysing immunological assays, complex cell cultures and / or mouse models is essential. Familiarity with bioinformatic analysis tools is desired, but is not required. Excellent organisational and communication skills in English are required for this position. We Offer
