TU BraunschweigBraunschweig, GermanyWith around 17,000 students and 3,800 employees, Technische Universität Braunschweig is the largest Institute of Technology in northern Germany. We are known for our strategic and performance-oriented thinking and acting, top-level research, highly committed lecturers and a successful transfer of knowledge and technologies into industry and society. We are dedicated to creating a family-friendly environment and advocate for equal opportunities.
Our core research areas are Mobility, Engineering for Health, Metrology, and the City of the Future. A strong focus is placed on engineering and the natural sciences, with a close link of our core disciplines to the economics, social and educational sciences as well as the humanities.
Our campus is located in the middle of one of Europe’s research hotspots, where we have established a successful working relationship – both with the more than 20 research facilities in our neighbourhood and our international partner universities.
Starting from the earliest possible date, the research group "Virology and Innate Immunity" of Prof. Dr. Melanie M. Brinkmann at the Institute of Genetics is looking for a
Research Postdoc (m / f / d) in the field of Host-Pathogen Interactions with focus on the innate immune response to herpesvirus infections
full-time, 39.8 hours per week)
The position is available for immediate appointment and to be filled on a fixed-term basis for two years with the possibility for extension. The successful applicant will be given the opportunity for further scientific qualification.
Embedded in the core research area "Engineering for Health – from Molecules to Processes" of the Technische Universität Braunschweig (TU BS), the research group "Virology and Innate Immunity" of Prof. Melanie Brinkmann is offering a postdoctoral position. The TU BS puts a strong focus on host-pathogen interactions and is tightly connected with its partners in the Hannover-Braunschweig region (Hannover Medical School, Twincore, Helmholtz Centre for Infection Research) via several research networks to address the challenges of identifying novel treatment options for infectious diseases. The "Virology and Innate Immunity" research group focuses on the innate immune response to chronic viral infections and is seeking for a highly motivated and enthusiastic Postdoctoral Scientist (m / f / d) to study the interaction between herpesviruses and the innate immune system. We aim to understand the molecular mechanisms of virus sensing by innate immune cells and downstream effects, and the strategies that viruses employ to counteract the host´s innate immune response with the intention to (1) discover and target novel structures for therapeutic approaches and (2) obtain novel insights into the host´s immune response.
