ZEISS Semiconductor Manufacturing Technology

Enabler for smaller, more powerful, and more energy-efficient microchips

Working for tomorrow today.

Around 80 percent of all microchips worldwide are produced using ZEISS technologies. As the centerpiece of every electronically controlled system, they have become an integral part of our everyday lives – whether in smartphones, smart homes or smart factories. ZEISS is a technology leader in the field of semiconductor manufacturing equipment. With high-precision lithography optics, photomask systems and process control solutions, ZEISS enables the production of ever smaller, increasingly powerful, and more energy-efficient microchips, and thus plays a pivotal role in the age of micro- and nanoelectronics.

Semiconductor Fab Solutions (SFS) develops electron microscopy solutions for quality control in the semiconductor industry.

Become part of the team behind groundbreaking innovations like the “ZEISS MultiSEM” and help push the boundaries of technology every day. You’ll work closely with people from a wide variety of disciplines. Take on the challenge and grow through exciting and responsible assignments. Join us at our inspiring location in Oberkochen, where you’ll have the opportunity to advance your career in a forward-looking environment.

Your Profile

  • You will support the global development and operation of high-performance computing (HPC) clusters and storage systems in industrial and air-gapped environments to enable new customer applications based on these systems
  • You will implement and evaluate future high-performance systems using modern technologies and software tools, particularly in combination with locally operated hardware
  • You will work as part of a team to develop high-performance systems to production readiness, ensuring their scalability, reliability, and maintainability
  • You will assist with the installation, configuration, updates, and upgrades of container-based applications and work on their orchestration and data storage in close collaboration with experienced colleagues and customers
  • You will contribute to the implementation and continuous improvement of management and monitoring solutions for the monitoring and security of applications and clusters, including in isolated/air-gapped environments
  • You will take responsibility for clearly defined work packages within subprojects, document the requirements and results, and present them together with experienced colleagues within the team and to customers

Your Profile

  • A successfully completed college degree in computer science, information technology, mathematics, or a comparable field
  • Basic knowledge and experience with high-performance computing systems and clusters (e.g., design, development, or operation as part of your studies, through internships, work-study positions, or project work)
  • Basic hands-on experience with application containers (e.g., Docker) and, ideally, initial exposure to orchestration and lifecycle management using Kubernetes or similar technologies, as well as a strong interest in infrastructure, administration, deployment, and automation
  • Basic knowledge of GPU frameworks, parallelization, and optimization, e.g., from project work or thesis projects; ideally, initial experience with distributed storage systems or high-performance networks
  • Practical experience in an industrial setting is a plus
  • A structured, independent, and goal-oriented approach to work, the ability to grasp concepts quickly, a strong willingness to learn and work hard, and excellent teamwork skills
  • Very good communication skills and good written and spoken German and English, as well as a willingness to travel internationally
