We are looking for a Senior Catastrophe (CAT) Risk Analyst, in part-time 50% (m / f / d) based in Munich.

The Impact You Will Have

Reporting to the Head of CAT Risk Analytics & Services, you will play a critical role in identifying and assessing significant accumulation risks that could impact the company's financial stability. By utilizing your expertise in catastrophe modelling techniques and principles, you will support the establishment of appropriate risk mitigation and control mechanisms to safeguard Allianz Commercial's financial solvency. Sharing our knowledge and experience will be an important contribution to the growth of the team. You will manage small to medium-sized projects, taking ownership of the definition, execution, and delivery phases, and delivering specific outcomes to meet team objectives. With your contributions, Allianz Commercial can better manage risks and continue to provide its customers with the highest level of protection possible.

Some of your specific responsibilities could include :

Operate catastrophe loss modeling software for natural perils and terrorism, producing regular and ad-hoc data reports to monitor Allianz Commercial's global loss potential. Tasks include portfolio analyses, CAT limit monitoring, and input for reinsurance protection, with minimal guidance.

Define scope, agree on timelines, and execute deliverables for data and reporting with internal and external clients. Lead and mentor global loss modeling activities, using expertise in model methodology to validate and explain loss outputs.

Collaborate with CUO Line of Business and other functions (Actuarial, Risk Management, Reinsurance, etc.) to support business steering, Solvency II requirements, reinsurance renewals, and data quality improvements.

Provide consultancy on CAT Modeling results, translating and explaining reports to organizational entities and internal clients, including portfolio impacts from model changes.

Conduct training and education across Allianz Commercial, Allianz Group, and with clients.

Drive innovation by managing evaluations and upgrades of vendor catastrophe loss modeling software, including technical and portfolio impact analyses and documentation, with minimal guidance.

What You’ll Bring to the Role

Degree preferably in Geosciences, Physics, Engineering or other relevant fields.

Strong professional experience in insurance and / or reinsurance.

Solid understanding of underwriting practices for industrial risks and corporate business on a global basis.

Relevant experience in project management as well as process enhancement and design as well as exploratory data analysis and statistics for large data sets.

Excellent expertise in Catastrophe Modeling Software (e.g. Moody’s RMS, Verisk)

Solid expertise in Python / Pandas / SQL or similar for data analysis and automation (e.g. via API).

Excellent analytical, problem-solving and troubleshooting skills with ability to deliver, drive innovation and manage change.

Strong ability to communicate effectively with various levels and functions internally and externally in a global environment.

Fluent in English.
