Stellenbeschreibung

Responsible lead of global product development including innovation management, product maintenance, product improvement, cost reduction and raw material and supplier selection according to strategic and operational planning and in accordance with internal and external regulations on quality, occupational safety and sustainability strategy.

The Head of Product Development at Coats Footwear will be responsible for leading the development of structural and innovation in application techniques. This role requires strong technical expertise, as well as exceptional leadership and project management skills.

The role is to oversee a team of product development managers and engineers to drive the creation of cutting-edge solutions that enhance the durability, performance, and comfort of footwear.

Responsible for the profitable application of state-of-the-art management systems for innovation.

Support as subject matter expert for the procurement for selection of cost-effective, high-quality, compatible, sustainable and performance reliable materials.

Strong interference with technical product management to guarantee market relevant products and to manage product critical success factors. Product innovation strategy and roadmap is under his / her leadership.

Responsible for R&D cost, budget and team staff.

Key Accountabilities

  • Lead and manage the product development process from concept to commercialization, ensuring timely execution and adherence to quality standards.
  • Drive product ideation and innovation management to fulfil the innovation and sustainability strategy and to maintain a healthy and successful development pipeline.
  • Conduct market research and analysis to identify trends, customer needs, and opportunities for product improvement or innovation in shoe reinforcement and application.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including design, engineering, and manufacturing, to develop new materials, technologies for shoe reinforcement.
  • Develop and manage project timelines, budgets, and resources to ensure successful product launches within set targets and according to the roadmaps by using and leading the stage gate methodology.

Education and professional experience

  • The position is to be filled by a PhD chemist or experienced engineer. Knowledge of polymer chemistry and process technology as well as the ability to work in an interdisciplinary manner and the ability to work in a team are prerequisites. English language skills are a prerequisite.
  • Proven experience (typically + years) in product development, preferably within the footwear industry, with a focus on shoe reinforcement and application.
  • Demonstrated leadership and people management skills, with experience leading cross-functional teams.
  • Excellent project management abilities, with a track record of successfully driving projects from concept to launch.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with diverse stakeholders and present complex ideas in a clear and concise manner.
  • Technical knowledge of footwear manufacturing processes, materials science, and product design principles would be a plus
  • Knowledge of market trends, consumer insights, and competitive landscape in the footwear industry would be a plus
