Your Tasks

At 1&1 Mail & Media, we work with our strong brands GMX, WEB.DE and mail.com on an extraordinary scale - over 8,000 physical servers at four global data center locations with high redundancy. We rely on modern and highly available technologies such as our own cloud infrastructure. We manage more than 100 million active mailboxes worldwide, with over 42 million customers in Germany alone. We develop and operate great things : hundreds of petabytes of storage space, 3.5 billion active logins per day and almost half an exabyte of Internet traffic per year. We don't just use technology, we push it to its limits, break it and then develop innovative solutions.   • Lead your innovative IT team to success and promote their professional and personal development through coaching, training and individual objectives.
  • Coordinate all troubleshooting measures with your team as part of our emergency and incident management and thus ensure smooth processes.
  • Thanks to your in-depth knowledge of Linux, servers and storage, you recognize potential for innovative further development and derive creative measures from this.
  • You follow new technologies and trends, evaluate them and carry out proof-of-concept tests together with the team to check their suitability for productive use in the company and thus move us forward.
  • You work closely with other departments and stakeholders across team boundaries. Our joint success helps us to achieve our goals.

Your Profile

Have you already worked for several years as a System Engineer (f / m / d) in large, highly available Linux environments? Have you already demonstrated your leadership skills and would you like to lead a cross-functional team of IT experts in an unusual and exciting challenge? Then send us your application!   • Several years of management experience of an IT Operations / DevOps team with a focus on people management and team development.
  • Very good knowledge of OpenSource technologies, especially in the areas of Linux, storage and backup.

  • Know-how in the operation of modern infrastructure-as-code architectures based on K8s, Docker, git config management and metrics-based monitoring.
