Your role

The Health & Safety (H&S) Team Lead (f / m / x / d) is responsible for leading and guiding the H&S team to ensure a safe and healthy working environment for all employees. This role involves overseeing the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of health and safety programs, identifying potential hazards, conducting risk assessments, and ensuring full compliance with all relevant health and safety regulations.

The H&S Team Lead will provide strategic leadership, fostering a proactive safety culture across all departments. This position also includes direct line management of the H&S team in Barleben, comprising H&S Experts and H&S Coordinators. The role requires strong leadership, the ability to drive change, and close collaboration with stakeholders to promote best practices. Key responsibilities include training, incident management, and ensuring that all safety initiatives align with company and legal requirements.

The primary objective of this role is to minimize occupational risks, enhance workplace safety standards, and ensure continuous improvement in health and safety performance.

Your area of responsibility

• Lead the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of comprehensive health and safety policies and procedures.
• Serve as the line manager for the H&S team in Barleben, including H&S Experts and H&S Coordinators, ensuring effective team coordination, development, and performance.
• Conduct regular risk assessments and safety audits to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance with all safety regulations.
• Design, coordinate, and deliver health and safety training programs for employees at all levels.
• Investigate workplace incidents and accidents, conduct root cause analysis, and recommend and implement corrective actions.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of safety inspections, incidents, and compliance activities.
• Collaborate with management and employees to promote a culture of safety and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
• Ensure that all safety equipment and personal protective equipment (PPE) is properly maintained, available, and used correctly.
• Stay up to date with current health and safety regulations and industry best practices to ensure compliance and recommend improvements.
• Assist in the development of emergency response plans and coordinate regular drills and training exercises.
• Provide guidance, coaching, and support to employees on health and safety matters.
• Develop and manage the H&S budget, ensuring efficient allocation of resources to support safety initiatives.
• Monitor and report on H&S performance metrics to senior management, providing insights and recommendations for continuous improvement.
