Hydro Building Systems is seeking a Plant Manager for its logistics and production site in Gerstungen dedicated to the Wicona Brand. The position will be based in Gerstungen(Thuringia) in Germany.

Hydro Building Systems [HBS], with 3,500 employees, is active in the building envelope segment from the design to the distribution of aluminum systems (Facades, windows, doors, railings, sliding doors, etc.). With our various commercial brands Technal, Wicona and Sapa, we have a leading position in Europe.

About the job and your team

Reporting to the Plant Manager and being in charge of the site with 220 employees, you lead and manage all resources in the logistics and manufacturing facility and assure that the operation is working profitably to provide products that consistently meet or exceed expectations in terms of quality and service, with maximum return on assets. Gerstungen site includes warehouses, paint line, value-added activities workshop and logistics / transportation functions.

You are in charge of the areas of logistics, warehousing, sourcing, manufacturing, EHS, Quality and supply chain. Sales and support functions are located in the DACH region, however reporting to central commercial management.

About the role

Your main responsibilities are :

• You plan, organize and manage all plant site functions to successfully meet both short and long-term business objectives,
• You oversee all production activities : coating and value-added activities (thermal break), as well as logistics activities (inbound / outbound / warehousing / shipment) and maintenance of site facilities,
• You lead the successful deployment of our EBS strategies (operational excellence),
• You ensure an environmentally safe and efficient logistics and manufacturing operation,
• You develop the local team in terms of operational excellence skills,
• You provide leadership to all functional and service groups to meet customer requirements, and drive performance to achieve or exceed financial plans and strategic goals,
• You develop good relationships with employee’s representative on site and lead monthly work council meetings.

Your qualifications and skills

With an engineering background (5-year diploma or equivalent experience), you rely on solid knowledge of mechanics / process and preferable from a strong industrial culture acquired in metallurgy.

You have at least 5 to 10 years of experience as a production or logistics site manager with management of several workshops.

This position is for a rigorous, responsive person, motivated by the technological challenge and committed to continuous improvement. You are recognized for your leadership and communication with demonstrated written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills that give you the ability to communicate ideas, concepts, and programs effectively and confidently to all levels of the organization.

Your lean manufacturing background (Green or Yellow belt) will be a plus.

You speak German and English fluently.
