Purchase Officer

An international wholesaler specialising in East Asian food is currently recruiting a Purchase Officer to work in their Amsterdam office.

In this role you will be responsible for everything from purchasing marketable products (e.g. seafood), to product development with the Manager.

WORK TYPE : Hybrid working available (Wednesday at home after training)

VISA SUPPORT : May be considered depending on experience

TYPE : Full-time, Initially 1 year contract (with potential for extension)

WORKING HOURS : 9 : 00-17 : 30, Monday to Friday

SALARY : Up to *Up to START : ASAP

LOCATION : Amstelveen, The Netherlands

Purchase Officer Main Responsibilities :

• Supporting for the preparation of sales plans by obtaining and providing information on the origin and market conditions of the products handled without delay
• Preparing purchasing plans
• Arrangement of new POs, preparation of incoming stock
• Negotiating as necessary to obtain purchasing conditions
• Supporting the development of new products
• Checking measures to prevent recurrence in the event of a complaint
• Checking that the products handled comply with EU regulations and responding to them
• Coordination with suppliers at the time of importation
• Updating and managing specification sheets
• Sharing of information and knowledge on products handled
• Conducting market research, analysing products, and proposing new products
• Implementing product category management
• Regular business trips to Asia of at least 7 days to visit suppliers

Purchase Officer Ideal Candidate :

• At least three years' experience in sales, purchasing, or procurement in a relevant industry is essential
• Business level of fluency in English is required, Japanese language skills would be highly appreciated
• Experience in the cycle from purchasing to sales would be advantageous
• Good communication skills
• PC skills (Microsoft office)
