JOB OVERVIEW :
Global Trade Services (GTS) functions within the Law Department encompassing strategic and operational compliance services for TE Connectivity (TE) worldwide.
We are building a world-class GTS organization. The Global Trade Services Counsel for the EMEA region is a new position that will provide legal advice and counselling on trade laws and regulations relating to export controls, restricted parties, economic sanctions, and customs matters.
The successful candidate will be able to collaborate and thrive in a global environment while maintaining integrity, taking accountability, promoting teamwork, and championing change.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES :
- Manage trade matters in EMEA, using personal expertise and external resources.
- Provide oversight on export, sanctions, customs, import, and trade law compliance in the region.
- Advise on trade compliance, business strategies, and contract elements.
- Conduct trade compliance assessments, investigations, and audits, and develop action plans.
- Ensure TE’s trade compliance program aligns with regulations and GTS strategy.
- Monitor global trade changes, communicate impacts, and develop risk mitigation strategies.
- Lead interactions with government regulators and manage audit responses.
- Collaborate with internal and external parties, including legal counsel.
- Support TE’s merger, acquisition, and divestiture activities related to trade compliance
KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED :
- Strong business acumen and ability to collaborate across geographies, functions, and product lines for legal, policy, and strategic support.
- Ability to work independently while staying connected with stakeholders and teammates.
- Several years of experience in trade controls and policy, preferably in a prominent law firm, in-house, or government role.
- Expertise in EU & Germany trade controls, sanctions, and customs.
- Preferred : Familiarity with UK trade law, nuances in France and Italy, and foreign direct investment.
- Preferred : Familiarity with US reexport laws and exposure to various industries.
- Clear and persuasive communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Experience with complex trade law issues and regulatory agencies.
- Ability to manage projects independently and work with cross-functional teams.
- Experience in managing and conducting complex investigations and assessments.
- Capability to oversee trade experts and navigate multi-country trade laws and regulations.
- Experience in developing and implementing trade compliance programs with a global perspective.
- Ability to partner with GTS leadership.
- Commitment to the success of a diverse, global team.
- Fluency in English - Additional languages are a plus.
