Hauptaufgaben
FIXED PROSTHESES. Reads, interprets and applies requirements described in the dental prescription, designs and fabricates metal substructures for both porcelain and acrylic veneers, performing as a master of the art of dental ceramics and plastics, utilizing recognized techniques and applying innovative ideas to accomplish the mission in unusual cases with abnormal oral anatomy and dentition.
Operates and provides instruction in the use of the most recent CAD / CAM technology to fabricate metal-free esthetic restorations.
Skillfully and artistically sculpts materials into dental prostheses that duplicate esthetic, natural tooth conditions. Incumbent must possess a thorough technical knowledge of normal and abnormal oral anatomy and dentition as these affect the design, fabrication, and esthetics of the dental prosthesis being constructed.
Fabricates the restoration to the esthetic, functional, and anatomic requirements of the prescription. Fabricates porcelain veneers for crowns, fixed dental prostheses, implant restorations, and all-ceramic crowns through the application of appropriate ceramo-metal techniques.
Fabricates restorations by casting and soldering the various metal components into the prescribed complex and intricately fits to casts and dies to include semi-precision attachments.
REMOVABLE PROSTHESIS. Reads, interprets the dental prescription, surveys, interprets designs, designs and fabricates semi fixed or removable partial dentures or complete dentures for cases that involve such abnormalities as acute malocclusion or other conditions that present problems of denture retention and mastication.
The technician sets teeth in conformity with the occlusion rims, existing teeth, markings, and guidance on the prescription form.
The wax set-up must be festooned and polished prior to flasking. Boiling out, packing, curing, deflasking, and recovery of prosthesis is accomplished without introducing errors.
The dentures are remounted, equilibrated, finished, and polished. Relines and rebases are properly oriented and processed without errors.
Wrought wire is adapted properly to the teeth and tube teeth attached when indicated. Technician should be able to design and fabricate Flexible Removable Partials and Implant Retained acrylic dentures.
Fabricates acrylic or cast metal splints for the reduction or fixation of maxillary and mandibular fractures, vertical dimension increasing prosthesis, and obturators to close an opening in the palate.
LABORATORY PROCEDURES. The incumbent must have the ability to pour accurate casts from all types of impression materials.
This includes preliminary casts, final casts, fixed casts with die pins, and their articulation on simple, semi-adjustable, and fully adjustable articulators.
The technician must be familiar with the various methods and materials used in custom tray fabrication, templates, mouth guards, splints, altered casts, boxing and pouring final denture impressions, and record base construction and occlusion rim fabrication for partial and full dentures.
The technician must also have the ability to do all acrylic resin repairs and modifications, as well as all soldering procedures.
The incumbent must keep adequate records to ensure that cases do not get lost or mistreated in their section. An accurate daily account of work completed must be kept and a daily worksheet will be turned in to the supervisor or designated individual at the end of each workday.
The technician is expected to be productive and meet the goals set by the supervisor. A high quality of work is expected and will be evaluated by the supervisor or the requesting dentist.
The incumbents work area and laboratory should be cleaned on a regular basis. Maintenance of all equipment should be scheduled on a routine basis and all supplies should be ordered far enough in advance to preclude shortages.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifikationsanforderungen
Completed vocational training as Dental Laboratory Technician PLUS specialized experience ( e.g., all steps of fabrication from the final impression to completion of the finished restoration or prosthesis)
Office automation skills are required.
LANGUAGE PROFICIENCY LEVEL :
English Language Proficiency level AND German Language Proficiency level B2 required.
