Job Overview
Senior Cybersecurity Engineer opportunity working for a Global Cybersecurity Vendor as part of their Munich office.
As a Senior Cybersecurity Engineer, you will be responsible for leading the design, implementation, and management of advanced security solutions to protect the organization’s IT infrastructure, data, and digital assets.
This role involves proactive threat assessment, vulnerability management, incident response, and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
You will work closely with cross-functional teams, including IT, legal, and compliance, to develop robust security strategies and enhance the overall security posture of the organization.
Key Responsibilities
Security Strategy Development :
- Develop and implement comprehensive cybersecurity strategies aligned with business objectives and regulatory requirements.
- Evaluate and recommend security tools, technologies, and practices to enhance security capabilities.
Security Architecture and Implementation :
- Design and implement secure network and infrastructure solutions, ensuring robust protection against cyber threats.
- Oversee the deployment, integration, and configuration of security systems, such as firewalls, IDS / IPS, SIEM, DLP, and endpoint protection.
Threat Management and Incident Response :
- Lead threat hunting activities and the identification of potential security threats and vulnerabilities.
- Coordinate and lead the response to security incidents, including investigation, containment, eradication, and recovery efforts.
- Perform root cause analysis and develop post-incident reports and recommendations.
Vulnerability Management :
- Conduct regular vulnerability assessments and penetration tests to identify and mitigate security weaknesses.
- Ensure timely patching and remediation of identified vulnerabilities in the organization’s systems and applications.
Compliance and Risk Management :
Ensure compliance with relevant industry standards (e.g., ISO 27001, GDPR, NIST) and internal security policies.
Security Awareness and Training :
- Develop and deliver security awareness training programs for employees.
- Promote a culture of security within the organization by educating staff on security best practices.
Leadership and Mentorship :
- Provide guidance and mentorship to junior cybersecurity team members.
- Collaborate with IT and other departments to promote cybersecurity initiatives and best practices.
Education
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or a related field.
- Relevant certifications (e.g., CISSP, CISM, CEH, OSCP) are highly desirable.
Experience
- Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in cybersecurity, with a focus on security engineering and architecture.
- Proven experience in managing security incidents, vulnerability assessments, and compliance audits.
- Experience with cloud security (e.g., AWS, Azure) is a plus.
Technical Skills
- In-depth knowledge of security protocols, encryption, and cybersecurity frameworks.
- Proficiency in security tools (e.g., SIEM, IDS / IPS, firewalls) and technologies.
- Strong understanding of network security, endpoint security, and application security.
- Familiarity with DevSecOps practices and automation tools.
