Roles & Responsibilities
- Implementing the Starr Companies underwriting strategy, portfolio and customer / channel proposition that optimises local and regional business opportunities. All this whilst taking into account the Starr strategy and risk appetite;
- Support the underwriters in Zurich by underwriting this market segment and helping to execute the business strategy;
- Authorise and make recommendations with respect to onshore energy and risk exposure while recognising local risk appetite and coordinating this into a final underwriting decision;
- Monitor the German marketplace to identify, assess and make recommendations regarding underwriting opportunities and / or threats (new and / or emerging risks within the market);
- You leverage your strong network to insurance brokers in Germany to acquire onshore energy insurance business;
- You are responsible for underwriting, from the technical analysis to the drafting of insurance conditions, negotiations with the customer and support during the policy period;
- You serve as the primary point of contact for your brokers and articulate our risk appetite in a comprehensive manner;
- You communicate internally with your colleagues and superiors and keep them informed;
- You document the enquiries, quotes and orders in the existing systems
- Identify and develop opportunities for cross-selling (other Starr lines of business) opportunities and synergies with the wider Starr community;
- Regular exchange with and support other functions (claims, technical accounting, risk engineering etc).
What We're Looking For
You have a degree in engineering and have gained practical experience in the industry. Alternatively, you have an insurance-related qualification and a good technical understanding;You are an experienced underwriter / senior underwriter for onshore energy or an experienced insurance broker in this sector;Good knowledge of current market wordings, trends in onshore energy, insurance and reinsurance practices;Excellent proven relationship building, clear communication, influencing and negotiation skills and a team player;You have good working connections to key brokers within the marketplace;You are fluent in German and English and are able to present eloquently;You must be able to work independently and diligently and know when and who to ask for advice;You have good computer skills and the ability to understand new systems.What We Can Offer You
