Role Overview : As a Systems Engineer specialising in VMware and Linux environments, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the stability, security, and performance of our client's IT infrastructure.
Your responsibilities will revolve around installing, configuring, and maintaining VMware systems, as well as administering Linux servers.
You'll collaborate closely with internal stakeholders to understand their needs and deliver exceptional service.
Key Responsibilities :
- Install, configure, and manage VMware environments, including ESXi, vCenter, and vSAN.
- Monitor system performance and conduct proactive maintenance activities to ensure infrastructure availability and reliability.
- Analyze log files and utilize diagnostic tools to resolve complex issues within the VMware vSphere® 7.x environment.
- Implement best practices and security protocols for VMware products.
- Administer Linux servers (CentOS, RHEL, Debian, Ubuntu) and develop shell scripts to automate system routines.
- Manage devices and Linux file systems and ensure compliance with file system hierarchy standards.
- Provide technical leadership during the conceptualization of complex projects.
Qualifications :
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, IT, or equivalent professional experience.
- Proven experience administering VMware infrastructures with in-depth knowledge of ESXi, vCenter, and vSAN.
- Proficiency in VMware command line interface and vSphere Client.
- Hands-on experience troubleshooting VMware vSphere® 7.x is a plus.
- Extensive knowledge of various Linux distributions and package management.
- Strong coordination skills and a commitment to continuous improvement.
- Analytical thinking and systematic problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent communication skills in German and English.
