In order to support the Radar Ground Systems department, Airbus Defence and Space is offering an

Internship in area simulations for integrated Ground Segment

d / f / m)

Duration : 6 months

As trainee you will gain an overview about a real example of a Ground Segment for a complex Earth Observation mission and you will explore how to simulate its end-to-end planning capabilities.

The focus of our department is the design and implementation of turn-key solutions for complete Ground Segment, including data receiving stations, payload data processing and satellite control system.

Your tasks and responsibilities

Design a generic simulated environment with which the Ground Segment will interact (architecture, functions, interfaces, reporting / visualization capabilities)

Study a specific mission for implementation of simulated environment

Implement simplified functions of the Ground Segment capable to interact with the simulated environment

Implement the simulated environment for the chosen mission

Demonstrate the end-to-end simulation capabilities

Desired skills and qualifications

Enrolled full-time student (d / f / m) in the area of Computer Science, Telecommunication or an equivalent field of study

Good programming skills in Java

Good knowledge of Linux environment and ReST paradigm, underlying protocols and relevant libraries

Practical experience with micro service architectures

Knowledge of cloud technology and of Ground Segment is an advantage

Team-player, good communication and s elf-organising skills

English : advanced , German : basic (any higher level is an advantage)
