The PhD project involves molecular and cellular experimental approaches to investigate how modulation of Ca2+ signalling in cardiac non-myocytes and immune cells (including cardiac macrophages, cardiac fibroblasts) affects cardiac function and remodelling, as well as inflammatory responses. This includes analyses of immune cell infiltration and inflammatory mediator expression in in vivo mouse models of cardiac injury and fibrosis.
Experience in one or more of the following areas is required :
Isolation, culture, and characterization of primary cells, FACS and histological techniques
Fluorescence microscopy, Ca2+ imaging, or electrophysiology
Molecular biology, biochemical techniques, and gene expression analysis
Animal experimentation using disease models
