CORE RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS
The Area Continuous Improvement Manager is responsible for supporting the facilities in the region in the creation and implementation of Sherwin Williams CI culture. The Area CI Manager works closely with various manufacturing or distribution sites to understand current state processes and improve on them to attain monetary, time, or moral benefits. This resource will be the main point of contact for coaching and training of CI strategies and needs for the facilities or operational areas.
Major Tasks Performed :
- Increase the transparency of Operations by ensuring robust measurement of losses for all areas of Operations . generation of appropriate loss trees.
- Increase productivity within Operations by leading usage of the appropriate lean tools, six sigma methodology, etc. (. value stream mapping, 5S, Kanban) to eliminate losses such as delay, duplication, unnecessary movement, unclear communication, incorrect inventory, and product defects.
- Undertake pillar training and leadership of the Standard Work program
- Collaborate with the facilities to execute the different pillar certifications of the Standard Work program.
- Coach the operational teams in continuous improvement techniques and help them cascade this approach to their teams to develop a proactive continuous improvement culture.
- Help ensure that ownership of work is allocated in a manageable fashion to ensure the culture.
- Develop training programmes and undertake training in the use of continuous improvement tools.
- Challenge the production team to ensure appropriate momentum of improvement.
- Create reports for the facilities to identify areas of opportunity and execute on improvements.
- Assist facilities with the maintenance of their respective continuous improvement projects in the Onbase database.
- Assist sites with analysis and improvement of current processes
- Assist sites with scoping of CI projects
- Ensure the proper communication of goals and processes to meet the SW standards.
- Participate in design reviews for projects
- Reviews implementation requirements to understand site personnel or resource requirements and negotiate with the involved areas.
- Build and lead the implementation plans for each specific facility to maintain the 5 yr plans for Standard Work and other CI initiatives
- Promote and share of best practices – A key aspect of the Regional Team
- Drive towards standardization where at all possible to ensure better sharing of equipment, parts and knowledge going forward
- Assist facilities with process issues as needed
- Analyzes production work trends to identify opportunities for improvement
- Creates reports for sites / regions as needed through the analytics tools like OBIEE or Business Objects.
- Audit sites for certification or sustainability of CI certifications.
- Partner with Area Controllers or Area Directors to prioritize the needs of the facilities.
- Encourage a ‘management by fact’ mindset.
