Hands-on Project Manager (mechanical design, product development)
Your Mission
NIRx Medizintechnik GmbH is seeking a experienced hands-on Project Manager to lead our mechanical design and product development efforts.
You’ll play a crucial role in shaping our Neuroimaging systems, driving projects from conception to completion, and leading a talented team.
Your responsibilities will include :
- Manage and optimise product development projects, focusing on plastic components (e.g., housings, connectors, fixation devices), textiles, and fibre optics.
- Overseeing the entire design-to-manufacturing process, spanning from idea to serial production while ensuring high-quality standards and efficient production.
- Leading and supporting a Product Design Engineer and a Textile Product Designer, fostering a collaborative and innovative environment.
- Collaborating closely with external suppliers, manufacturers, and internal teams (sales, marketing, optoelectronics, and production) to translate technical requirements into high-quality, functional products.
- Utilizing pragmatic development approaches and project management tools (including in-house 3D printing) to ensure projects meet goals, timelines, and budgets.
- Planning and supporting comprehensive performance and usability testing, ensuring detailed documentation and complete component specification.
- Maintaining and improving product and manufacturing specifications, managing design changes, addressing quality issues, and driving continuous innovation and efficiency.
Your Qualifications
We’re looking for someone with a strong technical background and a passion for teamwork and innovation :
- Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Design, Engineering Product Development or a related subject.
- At least five years of experience in mechanical engineering, focusing on product development and project management, particularly in small to medium-sized enterprises.
- Deep understanding of mechanical engineering principles, manufacturing techniques and materials, especially plastics. Knowledge of optics and fibre optics is a plus.
- Proficient in product development and project management methodologies, with hands-on experience in CAD software (SolidWorks).
- Strong proficiency in English, with excellent documentation and reporting skills. German language skills are an added advantage.
- First-hand experience in leadership or project management, especially in regulated industries, with an independent, precise working style.
