Head of Engineering (m/f/d) MarTech

Strengthen our MarTech / Website team in full-time (40 hrs./week) as Head of Engineering (m/f/d) within Germany remotely or at one of our office locations.

In this role, you will lead the engineering vision for IU’s Website Platform and Services – a critical growth engine within the Marketing department. You will shape how we build fast, scalable, and high-converting digital experiences across multiple IU websites, enabling millions of prospective students to discover, evaluate, and choose the right educational path.

Your tasks

• Lead two empowered, cross-functional product teams (Frontend, Backend, Platform) responsible for IU’s Website Platform used across four major IU websites.

• Co-create with Tech Leads and Staff+ Engineers the technical vision and architecture of a headless web platform built on Storyblok (CMS), Laravel services, and Vue.js frontends, ensuring scalability, security, maintainability, and sustainable evolution.

• Drive speed, performance, SEO, and GEO optimization as core business levers for traffic growth and conversion.

• Partner closely with Product Owners, UX, Marketing, and Growth stakeholders to translate business goals into measurable product and engineering outcomes, enabling empowered teams to make strong product decisions.

• Collaborate with Salesforce and data platform teams to ensure reliable, high-quality data flows across systems and customer touchpoints.

• Embed personalization and AI-powered features across the customer journey to improve relevance, decision support, and conversion.

• Champion excellent developer experience, modern delivery practices, and high engineering standards (CI/CD, code quality, observability, performance monitoring).
