YOU ACT

You are responsible for leading the Flat Rolling Technology department within the central R&D global support function (GSF) of the SMS group. The area includes Flat Rolling Technology for Hot Rolling and Cold Rolling plants / products. The role has a global and international standing, covering whole SMS group. You will be responsible for a potentially international department, with resources located in different entities and countries.

You are working in close alignment with the Center of Excellence Flat Rolling (CoE FR), globally responsible for all Flat Rolling related products and plants, and particularly with the Technology Department within the CoE Flat Products.

Your area of responsibility covers :

• detailed understanding and the description of the technological process for flat rolling (hot and cold rolling)
• development of the area specific technological models, in cooperation with other departments within the SMS group (specifically RDZ, FRE and SX)
• development and implementation of an area specific rolling technology innovation strategy in cooperation with CoE FR
• process evaluation with regard to function and economic efficiency (total cost of ownership)
• support and execution of RD projects for the specific expertise area
• support of customer sales and project execution activities
• support of technological commissioning and rolling process optimization at site, when required
• represent SMS technological know-how in the specific product area, via publications, participations at fairs and conferences as well as in international associations, where appropriate;
• establishment of an international technological setup
• methodical support of the FR related divisions and companies

YOU KNOW

You have successfully completed a master technical degree or Ph.D and have a strong passion for flat rolling technology and process as well as for innovation.
