eleQtron develops and operates full-stack quantum computers based on trapped-ion technology. Quantum computing is a new computing paradigm rapidly approaching commercial viability. Our unique approach combines laser-cooled trapped ions with microwave control and tailored magnetic fields. Our next-generation computing machines under development will be able to find solutions to problems that are out of reach today, thus enabling new innovative products and services for a brighter future.
We are looking for a Laboratory Engineer / Technician (f / m / d)
Responsibilities :
As a Laboratory Engineer / Technician (f / m / d), you will work hands-on to assemble, integrate, test, and maintain complex quantum computing hardware systems. You will ensure that systems operate reliably from initial assembly through commissioning and handover to hardware operations.
Assemble, integrate, and maintain quantum computing hardware from wire-bonded chip level to fully enclosed, self-contained systems
Integrate and validate all subsystems, including vacuum, electronics, optomechanics, cryogenics, lasers, microwaves, and control systems
Perform subsystem and system-level verification, including wiring checks, signal integrity testing, optical alignment, and vacuum leak detection
Execute functional, integration, and acceptance tests before system handover
Support commissioning activities and ensure systems meet defined performance and reliability requirements
Diagnose and resolve unexpected system behavior in close collaboration with design and operations teams
Conduct preventive maintenance and timely service interventions to ensure stable operation
Maintain clear and structured documentation of assembly, testing, and service activities
Required skills :
Bachelor’s degree in Physics, Applied Physics, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field
5+ years of hands-on experience building, maintaining, testing, or servicing complex laboratories or industrial hardware systems
Hands-on troubleshooting skills across hardware, electronics, optics, and vacuum subsystems
Structured approach to testing, documentation, and operational handover
Proven experience with systems of comparable complexity, such as :
o Electron microscopes (SEM, TEM, FIB)
o Mass spectrometers (ToF, QMS, SIMS, ICP-MS)
o Semiconductor process equipment (e-beam lithography, ALD, MBE, CD-SEM, plasma etch tools)
o Small particle accelerators or ion implantation systems
Nice-to-have :
Experience with in-house commissioning or field service of complex laboratory or industrial equipment
Exposure to quantum hardware or advanced experimental physics environments
Experience working in cleanroom or controlled laboratory settings
