ABOUT THE ROLE
The VP M&A is responsible for the management of all acquisitions and divestitures within Essity globally. In this capacity, you will play a pivotal role in developing and driving the M&A strategy, collaborating closely with the Business Units. Reporting directly to the CFO, you’ll also engage with BU Leadership teams and other senior stakeholders across the organization. This role encompasses steering a company with significant global operations, including EUR 13 billion in revenue and a workforce of around 36,000.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
- Propose M&A strategies based on thorough business evaluations
- Develop and lead the M&A process, including negotiations with counterparties
- Ensure that group M&A activities align with the overall corporate strategy by closely collaborating with senior management and key stakeholders, particularly the executive team
- Oversee acquisitions and divestitures, ensuring they meet appropriate standards and that risks are well understood. Work closely with internal experts in legal, tax, technical, environmental, and other relevant areas
- Prepares and advises on the material and key figures to be presented to key stakeholders (esp. the Essity Group Board) or in order for them to arrive at well informed decisions
- Leads and develops the M&A team and function in terms of efficiency, structure and people
- Offer expert advice and support to other functions and executive management
- Proactively drive the M&A agenda, identifying opportunities and implementing strategic initiatives
WHO YOU ARE
Possess a master’s degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related fieldYou have a high understanding of financial statements, valuation methods, and financial modellingAbility to identify strategic investment opportunities, assess risks, and make informed decisionsDevelop and execute M&A strategies aligned with the organization’s goalsIdentify potential targets and evaluating their fit within the company’s portfolioEffectively negotiation with target companies, shareholders, and other stakeholdersFamiliarity with legal aspects of M&A, including contracts, due diligence, and compliance. Understanding antitrust laws and regulationsYou are a proactive, business minded, with a commercial mindsetLead cross-functional teams during due diligence, integration, and post-merger phasesArticulate complex ideas to executives, board members, and external partiesDynamic and sociable with a proactive mindset, skilled in building relationships and driving initiativesBuild relationships both internally and externallyFluent in EnglishPosition is located in Stockholm Sweden, but it can be based in any of the major Essity locations in Europe.
