ATLAS MARIDAN ApS is a Danish company with branches in Germany.

The Danish site develops, integrates, tests, repairs and maintains unmanned vehicles (UxVs), primarily autonomous underwater vehicles (AUVs).

Offshore exploration tasks (surveying operations) and the central management of research and development are carried out by the German branches.

We are active nationally and internationally in the areas of :

  • Offshore site investigations with a primary focus on offshore renewables
  • Geophysical surveys specialized in the detection of unexploded ordnances
  • Ultra-high-resolution seismic surveys
  • Development, manufacturing, repair, maintenance, integration, and testing of autonomous, uncrewed maritime vehicles (UxV)

An experienced team is available to handle various projects. The technical staff includes engineers specialising in process engineering, hydrographic engineering and geodesy as well as natural scientists from the fields of geology, geotechnics and geophysics.

The newly established development unit AIMS (Artificial Intelligence Marine Systems) within ATLAS Maridan ApS, a subsidiary of ATLAS ELEKTRONIK GmbH, is a dynamic team dedicated to developing innovative solutions based on artificial intelligence. This independent development department is located within a startup ecosystem in the heart of Bremen.

The vision is to revolutionize the maritime world through AI-powered technology - from autonomous underwater vehicles and intelligent ship control systems to predictive maintenance for maritime equipment. As the Head of AI at AIMS, you will play a pivotal role in leading and shaping our AI initiatives. You will have the unique opportunity to build a team from the ground up and drive the development of transformative AI solutions for the maritime sector. Your expertise will guide our team to design, develop, and implement cutting-edge AI technologies that redefine the possibilities within marine systems.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Establish and lead the new AI development unit, AIMS, recruiting, training, and managing a talented team of AI specialists.
  • Drive the development of AI-based solutions tailored to maritime challenges, including autonomous underwater navigation, ship recognition, and advanced data analytics.
  • Design, train, and optimize complex AI models for maritime applications.
  • Develop and implement processes and workflows for AI research, validation, and deployment.
  • Identify and explore new business opportunities, collaborating closely with AIMS' Steering Committee and Management Board. Engage with potential customers and partners, understanding their needs to deliver bespoke AI solutions.
  • Prepare proposals and presentations for prospective clients while cultivating a network of industry contacts and fostering long-term customer relationships.
  • Act as a strategic advisor to the parent company on all AI-related topics, including strategic planning, technology implementation, and ethical considerations.
  • Extensive experience in developing AI-driven solutions, ideally in a technical or industrial environment.
  • Proven initial experience in leadership roles, such as team or project management.
  • Background in consultancy, especially in the field of AI, is a plus.
  • Willingness to travel frequently to provide on-site client support, attend conferences, and engage in trade show networking.
  • Strong business development skills, with a proven ability to market complex AI solutions and identify new business opportunities for AIMS.
  • Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts in an understandable and engaging way.
  • Proficiency in both German and English (written and spoken).
