Duties Description Reporting to the Director of Athletics, the Athletics Communication Director - Sports Information develops, organizes and administers all aspects of a competitive NCAA Division III Athletics and Recreation Sports Information Department. This is a full-time, twelve (12) month position requiring a flexible schedule including nights, weekends and holidays.
Responsibilities include :
Develop, implement and monitor day to day media activities and duties, coordinate the writing, design, and dissemination of specific materials, maintain and track official statistics of athletic events and student athletes. Responsible for in game statistics.
Report and submit to the NCAA, Skyline Conference and appropriate organizations and various media groups.
Manage the Athletics Department social media on Instagram, Facebook, Twitter and You Tube channels.
Responsible for video live streaming all home games and uploading to appropriate video exchange outlets. Add and upload to various sports specific video exchange outlets.
Monitor and update website content in a timely manner for . Coordinate archiving and maintenance of records, photos, file, etc. for all SUNY Old Westbury athletics and recreation sponsored events.
Attend all Skyline conference meetings and conference calls as requested by Director of Athletics. Attend all post season Skyline games and NCAA contests. Travel may be required within regular season specifically spring training trips.
Collaborate with Equipment Manager for continuity of branding and marketing of Old Westbury Athletics.
Serve as liaison with the Office of Communications and Marketing and Old Westbury Radio.
Coordinate and report Skyline Conference weekly reporting honors and end of season awards / honors per program.
Create flyers and publication materials for a variety of athletic events including Athletic Director Honor Roll Luncheons, recreation / intramurals flyers, Open House materials.
Attend Orientations and Service Fairs as directed.
Assist in the planning of Alumni Days, Team Kick Off Dinners,
Assist the Compliance Coordinator with the compilation of NCAA reports such as Graduation Rates, Sports Sponsorship and any other NCAA or Skyline reports.
Secure, coordinate, train and supervise game day sports information staff.
Plan and develop game day promotions and halftime events at intercollegiate contests.
Monitor Team Community Service projects / activities.
Other duties as assigned.
The ideal candidate will have excellent interpersonal and communication skills; must be detail oriented and have excellent customer service, organization and planning, prioritization, problem solving, follow through, time management, and oral and written communication skills. Must be flexible and possess the ability to successfully handle multiple tasks / projects simultaneously, work well under pressure and in a fast paced environment, and work independently and in a team-oriented environment. Must have a commitment to student-athlete academic success and well-being. Experience with multicultural student body populations.
Minimum Qualifications Minimum Qualifications :
Bachelor's degree (foreign equivalent or higher).
A minimum of two (2) years of experience within the sports information field (graduate assistant positions and internships are acceptable).
Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite software (Photoshop, InDesign, Premiere Pro, Illustrator, After Effects) or other design / video production software.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
Ability to work a full-time flexible schedule including nights, weekends and holidays.
Must have and maintain the appropriate valid NYS driver's license and have a motor vehicle record which is free from major violations or a pattern of repeat violations.
Preferred Qualifications :
Master's degree.
Hands-on experience with statistical programs (Statcrew, Presto stats entry, Genius, NCAA Live Stats (NLS)).
