Master Thesis in the field of Out-of-distribution detection in industrial usecase
Safe Intelligence - this forms the core brand of the Fraunhofer Institute for Cognitive Systems IKS . Connected cognitive systems drive innovation in many sectors, including mobility, healthcare, and automation in industry.
Disruptive technologies such as artificial intelligence and quantum computing play a key role here. Fraunhofer IKS is conducting research to ensure that these applications are reliable and verifiably safe.
We consider resilience and intelligence to be part of the same process.
What you will do
In an industrial setting, anomaly can range from defective parts to detecting unknown or out-of-distribution objects in a given scene.
Using machine learning methods for such vision usecases can improve efficiency. To employ machine learning methods in safety critical usecases, it is essential to be able to explain the predictions in a human-understandable manner.
In this light, the student will investigate prototype learning based methods for anomaly or out-of-distribution object detection in industrial usecases.
Depending upon the background of the student, the thesis can either focus on classification or object detection related tasks.
