Academic Researcher in Theory and Pheonomenology of Heavy-Ion Collisions
The position is located in the Theoretical Physics group at Bielefeld University. The successful candidate will conduct research in the group of Prof.
Dr. Sören Schlichting in projects on initial conditions and non-equilibrium dynamics of heavy-ion collisions, as well as their role in the description of collective dynamics, and contribute to the development of real-time methods and their application to the calculation of hadronic spectral functions and the description of dynamically critical behavior.
Duties will also include participation in the teaching canon of theoretical physics and supervision of Bachelor, Master and PhD students.
We are looking for a dedicated and motivated scientist who will actively contribute to the scientific progress and management of the group and its activities in collaboration with other members. Your Tasks
research work on initial conditions, non-equilibrium dynamics and hydrodynamic evolution of heavy ion collisions based on kinetic and hydrodynamic descriptions;
research work on the development of real-time methods for the description of dynamic-critical behavior; participation in program development for QCD kinetic simulations and effective macroscopic descriptions (KoMPoST, stoch. hydrodynamics)
- teaching of 4 courses and supervision of Bachelor, Master and PhD students
- participation in the academic self-administration of the Faculty of Physics

Your Profile We expect
- completed scientific university degree (Master's degree or equivalent) in physics
- completed doctorate in a related field of research
- documented knowledge in heavy ion physics and QCD
- experience with the application of numerical methods and programming (C / C++)
- good command of written and spoken English
- independent, self-reliant and committed working style
- cooperative and team-oriented way of working
Preferred experience and skills
- experience in teaching and supervising students
- leadership skills
