The Scientis t Viral VectorProduction is responsiblefor d esign ing and perform ing cell culture experiments toproduce Adeno-Associated Virus (AAV) based gene therapy vectors at competitivetiters , quality and with manufacturing scalability inmind .

Thisposition reports to the Head of ViralVector Production and is part of the Viral VectorProduction Team located in Cologne and willbe an on-site role . This is a temporaryrole with a contract for 2 years. AtCytiva, our vision is, to advancefuture therapeutics from discovery todelivery.

Whatyou willdo :

Design ,supervise and perform cell cultureexperiments toproduce viral vectors according toestablished and novel protocols in high-throughput screenings,shake flasks and bioreactors (15 ml up to 10 L) withincustomer andres earch projects

Establishand further optimize existingprocesses, overall workflows andprocess documentation as part of internal research and developmentactivities

Compileand evaluate experimental results and present these as part ofeither internal or customer meetings , on conferences or for publish ing in peer-reviewedjournals

Support team resource planning andg uide and traintechnical assistants in novel workflows if required

Whoyouare :

Youhave completed your M.Sc. or PhD degree in the disciplines ofbiotechnology, bioprocess engineering or related fields with longstanding years of experience in an industrial and regulated environment

Youhave proven trackrecord and fundamental knowledge of cellculture work (cultivation of mammalian cells, transienttransfection , batch, fed batch andperfusion cultures ) , high-throughput screenings as wellas bioreactorhandling at various scales (Ambr15, Stirred tankbioreactors)

Youare familiar with typical analytical methods used in molecularbiology and protein chemistry, preferably in the area of viralvectors

Youhave experience in data evaluation( e.g. MS OfficeSoftware package, Prism, R) and presentation of experimentalresults

Youhave a hands-on mentality and enjoy working in international andinterdisciplinary teams with a constructive and creativemindset

Travel,Motor Vehicle Record & Physical / EnvironmentRequirements :

Abilityto travel – about10 % travel forexternal trainings, customer andinternal techtransfer activities as wellas conference visits

Itwould be a plus if you also possess previous experiencein :

Experiencein regulated environments (GLP / GMP) is considered as a plus

Firstexperience or background in Adeno-AssociatedVirus es isconsidered asplus

Firstexperience in supervising teams ortechnical employees is considered asplus
