SUMMARY

Qualified candidates will be dedicated to supporting our customers. This is a highly technical role, providing post-sales remote / on-site support of Ribbon Communications along with 3rd Party Products in a complex integration environment. The Engineer will be required to develop and maintain expertise on the products deployed within the Customer network. He is required to

support all aspects of implementation and support of the Carrier Ethernet Switch / Router and Multi Service Provisioning Platform (MSPP) portfolio into carriers and service providers throughout the region.

The role is based in Germany, preferably in the Frankfurt area and requires the ability to travel up to 30 % of the time to Customer and Ribbon Communication premises

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical problems including Lab simulation
  • Analyze network and equipment configuration problems and defects
  • Provide on-site troubleshooting when required.
  • The preparation of equipment configurations and validation of configurations for new installations, changes within the network, software upgrades, …
  • Development and maintenance of fault diagnosis procedures to support effective fault resolution
  • Development and maintenance of network operational support procedures related to the Ribbon Communication IP Optical products
  • Support deployment and design of L2 / L3 architecture for Service Providers / Telecom Industry.
  • Network related testing to ensure that the products operate correctly
  • Interface with 3rd Tier Technical Support, Engineering, Product Management and other departments to address customer’s issues in the most effective manner
  • Knowledge transfer, executing internal training

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • BSc in Electronics Engineering / Practical Engineering
  • One or more of the following certifications (JNCIE, CCIE, JNCIS, JNCIP, JNCIA, CCNP, CCIP) or proven equivalent knowledge.
  • Network Engineer with a strong background of IP data communications or telecommunications industry experience
  • Hands on experience with configuring IP / network equipment such as routers -Cisco and / or Juniper, Switches
  • Experience in customer support, including all phases of post sales engineering
  • Ability to analyze fairly complex data and develop innovative solutions
  • Data test equipment operating– Using Traffic analyzer, generator and sniffer, understand the configuration and analyze the results
  • Requires technical knowledge of the following areas : MPLS, HVPLS, OSPF, BGP,  Ethernet, EOS, TCP / IP and SNMP
  • Thorough understanding of Layer 2 and Layer 3 IP MPLS VPN technologies
  • Requires knowledge of the Service Provider network and in Carrier / Metro Ethernet infrastructure,
  • Language skills : Fluent in German & English

  • Experience in designing, planning and delivering deployment large scale IP Networks for Service Providers – Advantage
  • Knowledge of 5G transport technologies and solutions
  • Solid operating system knowledge (Linux, Solaris)
