Hauptaufgaben

Obtains, transports, replaces, moves and installs mechanically, electrically, radio frequency or computer controlled target lifting and moving systems of up to five and more types of US and foreign manufacturers; weighing from 23 kg (50 pounds) to 180kg (400 pounds); lifting and moving wood or metal frame targets resembling a wide variety of human, vehicle, and various tank figures of 0.5 to 13.5qm size, covered with cloth, paint, metal sheet or resistive heating material connected in electrical circuit with sectional interconnections, where the electrical power may be furnished by special batteries, engine operated generators of various sizes, or Alternating Current power lines. Some targets may be heated by various means with purpose that the upright lifted target be detected in shortest time by the training tank crew with their instruments. Installs equipment in the impact area IAW a predetermined plan, in hard stands or in other required position. Installs all cabling to be connected with power source, controlling line and explosive charges installed in electric igniting containers. Tests equipment operating functions either with radio frequency operating transmitters, mechanically, manually or instructs distant located computer operator in the Range Control Tower through radio communications to test operate all functions of several lifters, single or in group placement, in stationary or rail and trolley movement with automatic return functions. Places, interconnects, fills up and test operates engine operated power generators. Replaces required batteries, checks for sufficient charge and makes operational connections and tests. Readies all the placed and functional equipment in the ready to operate status. During the live firing periods by training troops with any available weapons and ammunition, by infantry, vehicles, tanks, helicopters, airplanes and rocket launchers, etc. assists training troops assembled in the range area with special requirements, material needs, registers reported damages or need for special equipment, occupation, maintenance or repair of utilities in barracks or mess hall buildings, grass cutting, disposal of crating material and trash. Loads, unloads, moves, transports with vehicle, sorts, cleans, washes and stocks target lifting equipment, damaged targets, left overs, etc. as to still usable, exchangeable, need of repair or to be discarded as scrap or trash. Repairs wooden targets either alone or with help of others including the careful loosening and removal of heater foil cover, removal of interconnecting connectors, plugs, testing of cables for usability through operational test, separating wooden beams, boards, plywood, and by cannibalizing. Cuts not totally destroyed parts to usable sizes with small or large hand saw and electric or engine operated power saw. Uses crowbar, axe, small and large hammer, screwdrivers, wrenches, and other tools, etc. Cuts boards, beams, plywood, plastic, canvas, and heating foil to required sizes, patterns and forms or IAW special instructions. Fits self-made parts into damaged sections to regain original size, shape or to fill up holes caused by hits of ammunition. Assembles material by nailing, screwing, bolting, inter-laying or splicing to obtain original stability and usability for intended purpose. Participates in the fabrication, repair, and installation of wooden firing range associated material such as frames, scoring tables, benches, signboards, markers, fences, barriers, poles, etc. Uses hand and power tools such as motor and hand-saw, drill, hammer, screwdriver, etc., not requiring skills of a craftsman. Cuts wood, plywood, and similar material according to samples, patterns, or specific instructions, assembles prefabricated wooden components by nailing, bolting, screwing and stapling. Refinishes firing control signs, performing basic painting functions on targets, limit signs, markers, panels, fences, barriers, poles, etc. not requiring the proficiency of a skilled painter. Performs physical laboring functions involved in firing range, land and roads maintenance, loading and unloading of range supplies, equipment, scrap, trash etc. as directed. Maintains working areas in a clean, orderly and safe condition. Maintains and performs minor repairs on a variety of target lifters incorporating, mechanical, electrical, electronic and hydraulic operating components. Replaces connectors, cables, auxiliary and easily replaceable handles, levers, supports and attachments, straightens sheet metal cases, etc. using screwdrivers, wrenches, hammer, crowbar and similar simple tools not requiring skills of a specific trade or craft. Spot-paints parts of target lifters, cleans, washes and smoothens surfaces to be painted. Maintains, repairs, cleans, refills, charges and tests a variety of special and car batteries. Cleans, washes, changes oil, refills, performs minor repairs, operates and tests engine operated generators of various sizes. During cease fire-down time, participates in damage assessment of targets and target lifting equipment, trolleys, engines, generators, rails, batteries, AC cabling, hard-stands, protective and safety barriers, etc. Reports damages to team leader. Cleans dirt and mud covered equipment, checks and if necessary replaces cables, batteries, targets and any quickly replaceable parts, fills up with explosive charges and tests Battle Effect Simulator equipment; through radio communication with distant Range Control Tower or manually tests functions of equipment. Initiates or replaces systems under stress of short down time (4 or 2 Hours) considering walking and working in any environmental, climatic and natural field and land conditions, and live firing caused dangers of duds, ammunitions, fragments, scrap, craters and overshooting by heavy artillery. Operates an automotive transport vehicle with some special attachments such as integrated crane, winch or snowplow, etc. with standard or automatic transmission requiring Class CE Driver's License and US Government Motor Vehicle Operators Identification Card. Performs operators maintenance, observes traffic rules and prepares trip ticket, reports vehicle deficiencies to supervisor for initiation of correction.

Performs other duties as assigned.
