The DFDS location in Neuenkirchen Vordenis one of four sites that are part of the Premium Continent ColdGroup, which in turn is part of the Logistics Division of DFDS. Theother sites are located in Nijmegen (NL), Winterswijk (NL) andSzubin (PL). We are market leaders in conditioned transport offresh meat.

The Premium Continent Cold locationsof DFDS provide safe and conditioned groupage transport fortime-sensitive products, mainly daily fresh food products. Thetransportation of these products such as vegetables, fruits, meat,fish, etc. is a complex process and therefore a real challenge. Itrequires excellence to ensure that the fragile products remainperfectly fresh throughout the logistics chain, thus preservingtheir value. Daily flexibility, speed and full commitment areindispensable in this.

You will report to theHead of Premium Continent Cold.

MainResponsibilities :

  • Lead the team inNeuenkirchen-Vorden to maintain and develop DFDS’ position asmarket leader.
  • The General Manager ofNeuenkirchen-Vorden is a significant position in the PremiumContinent Cold leadership team, playing a vital role in theachievement of the overall businessobjectives.
  • You will have the responsibilityfor the end-to-end operational performance of the business throughrobust performance management focusing upon optimization,efficiencies, and customer service levels. You will do thistogether with the local management team.
  • You’llhave responsibility for driving the growth of the business unit anddeveloping a long-term commercial strategy for the next three tofive years with organic growth as a keylever.
  • Work closely with the Premium ContinentCold management team to ensure the delivery of revenue and profittargets.
  • Identify opportunities to add value toexisting operations through innovation, technology, and continuousimprovement.
  • Strong internationalcollaboration, service and cost control is fundamental to thisposition. You will have a profit and loss responsibility, whilstretaining a strong focus on growth.
  • We requireyou to have the ability to analyze data, both financial andoperational, recognize trends, anticipate problems, drawing soundconclusions. All culminating with a pragmatic approach to problemsolving and leading from thefront.

Leadership :

  • Thesuccessful candidate will take overall leadership responsibilityfor more than 120 colleagues.
  • Being anenergetic and inspiring leader who can develop strong workingrelationships with other team members and key function businesspartners, you’ll drive strategic agenda and guarantee thecompetitiveness of the entireorganization.
  • Regularly review and define thecapability required in the team and generate career progressionopportunities for individuals who have the potential todevelop.
  • Ensure that the DFDS values and visionare achieved through the development of an engaged, open,interactive, and communicativeculture.
  • Sales :

  • Akey aspect will be driving the development of existing business,coinciding with finding new business and innovative opportunitiesto support the DFDS core business and growthstrategies.
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills, aclient-driven approach, and the ability to build strong workingrelationships with customers, suppliers, and colleagues at alllevels, alongside communications skills which enable effortlessinteraction across multiple locations / countries.
  • Build a strong, close relationshipwith customers and act as the senior point ofcontact.
  • Constantly review operationalperformance to ensure contractual obligations are being met / exceeded and that customers aresatisfied.
  • Develop key customer relationshipsat all levels to ensure the business is secure and opportunitiesfor growth are identified.

  • Must be fluent inEnglish and German.
  • Must be able to travelregularly.
  • The ideal candidate willhave proven experience in successfully leading logistic operationswith full P&L responsibility, combined with a track record ofbusiness development, resulting in consistent revenue and margingrowth.
