The Position
Within our Therapeutic Areas, we bring together leading cross-functional expertise to form a bridge between scientific innovation and patient centric solutions.
For our pharmaceutical (new chemical and biological entities) assets under development, we deliver global strategies on how to maximize value for patients across markets and drive sustainable access to our innovation.
As a Senior Program Manager, you translate asset development strategies into actionable plans. You provide project management support to the drug asset teams and next-level teams with the focus on strategy execution and progress.
You coordinate the interactions with all key stakeholders, and you inspire the team to embrace agile ways of working to maximize speed and execute effectively.
Tasks & responsibilities
- With your expertise, you are accountable for translating asset strategy into actionable plans and guide asset teams to develop an integrated development plan.
- You are responsible for the seamless execution of program deliverables and related activities from early to late-stage development.
- Your objective, neutral and unbiased opinions in a cross functional team is an add value to find key solutions and recommendations in the best interest of the asset together with the support of the team.
- You are responsible to escalate delays and to ensure proactive identification of risks, backlogs, deviations, assess competition and compliance topics, and thereby working with asset team members to develop solutions and risk mitigation plans.
- Furthermore, as the COO of the asset team you work closely with the CEO (Asset Leads) in managing interactions with leadership committees;
orchestrate the team to develop cohesive input into governance meetings and to prepare milestone release documentation.
- One of your responsibilities will be to document the asset development strategy, key decisions, important inflection points, risk management of topics, and ensure that the asset status is up-to-date and consistent.
- In addition, you coordinate asset team meetings, document agenda / minutes, track open issues, monitor the development budget, and communicate key decisions to accountable stakeholders.
- You relentlessly drive prioritization, efficiency and speed and facilitate team's agile ways of working (i.e., sprint planning, daily stand-ups, retrospectives etc.
while additionally serving as the asset team's point of contact to provide input to the TA and xTA portfolio assessment criteria, classification, and characteristics.
Requirements
- Advanced degree (Master's or comparable degree, e.g., Diploma (Univ.) in Life Sciences or Medical background
- Long-term relevant experience in project management within the Pharmaceutical or Biotech industry
- Demonstrated understanding and application of broad portfolio of project management processes and agile working platforms and tools;
project management certification is desirable but not a must
- Knowledge, experience and understanding of drug development phases from start to end in the pharmaceutical industry
- Experience in collaborating in a cross functional environment with related core and enabling functions
- Expertise in one of Boehringer Ingelheim's Therapeutic Areas is a plus
- Critical thinking with the ability to influence, negotiate and manage conflicts at all levels to achieve team alignment, commitment to deliverables with positive team environment;
proactive behavior, striving to develop solutions and to promote their acceptance
Strong communication skills, ability to present complex relationships in a concise and structured manner
