(Senior) AI Engineer / MLOps Engineer (m/f/d)

At VESTIGAS, you build the digital backbone of the construction supply chain. We turn purchase orders, delivery notes, and invoices into a digital, legally compliant platform used in everyday operations by construction companies and suppliers. You’ll work on a product with real market traction in the DACH mid-market, ship iteratively, and take ownership of solutions that must work in the field—not just in theory.

Your Role

As a (Senior) AI Engineer / MLOps Engineer, you lead the way in how we run AI at VESTIGAS. You build and maintain the infrastructure that keeps our AI systems reliable, scalable, and secure — and you make sure every model we ship actually creates measurable value for our customers.

You bridge AI engineering and business impact. You work end-to-end: from designing pipelines and integrating models into production, to improving accuracy and uncertainty estimation of features already live, to supporting product and sales discussions where AI capabilities matter.

You set the standard for engineering practices, tooling, and quality across our AI work — and you raise the bar for everyone around you.

Your Mission

• You lead our MLOps processes and build the infrastructure that keeps our AI systems reliable, scalable, and secure.
• You design and implement advanced features for our AI-driven supply chain operating system, working closely with engineering and product to ship machine learning models and data pipelines into production.
• You improve the accuracy, efficiency, and uncertainty estimation of our existing AI features and run rigorous testing to ensure their quality and reliability.
• You contribute to the scalability, maintainability, and core functionality of our AI solutions — and help build new ones from scratch.
• You bridge AI engineering and business value by aligning technical initiatives with customer needs and supporting sales and product discussions where it counts.
• You establish and uphold high standards in our engineering practices, tooling, and processes.
• You use modern AI tools like Copilot, Claude, and Cursor to ship faster — and you know where they help and where they don't.

Your Profile

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
• 5+ years of experience in MLOps and machine learning, including end-to-end lifecycle management and hands-on work with natural language processing and image processing techniques.
• You're passionate about building AI solutions — particularly in generative AI combined with OCR — and you prioritize customer value as much as technical excellence.
• Strong proficiency in Python and Azure, with experience in modern AI frameworks and libraries. Experience with Terraform is a plus.
• You write clean, reusable, well-tested code and care about what happens after deployment.
• You have a strong affinity for AI agents and tools, know how to put them to productive use, and understand their limits.
• Leadership experience (technical or disciplinary) is a plus.
• You speak fluent English and have strong reading comprehension in German (B2+).
• You're willing to work from our Munich office at least two days per week.
