Overall Job Purpose
The EU Medical Manager Ophthalmology (EU MM) is responsible for Medical Affairs projects in Europe in the pre and post launch phase of Branded products in Ophthalmology. The EU MM works closely with the EU Key Opinion Leaders (KOL) and follows the Brand Strategy. The EU MM organizes advisory boards on European and national level and is delivering international publications, congress posters and presentations in collaboration with KOLs. The EU MM is the Medical expert on the product content and provides medical scientific education to KOLs and colleagues in the field by presentations and training. The EU MM provides medical content and briefing for KOLs at congresses. The EU MM works closely with the EU Marketing & Sales Manager by providing medical content and strategic insights to Marketing materials and projects, together with a strong sense of compliance with the pharmaceutical Industry codes. The EU MM provides medical training for the commercial teams in all countries
Major tasks & responsibilities (60% field) :
- Strategic plan development in close collaboration with Marketing stakeholders and Head Medical Affairs
- Execution of the Medical Affairs pre-launch and post launch strategy plan at EU and country level.
- Mapping of EU KOLs on the disease and KOL insights on the product
- Develop links with and support international networks in the therapeutic area
- In collaboration with Market Access, ensure product Access in International and local guidelines
- Organizing EU and local Advisory Boards on EU level and in the countries (content, objectives, speakers, attendees)
- EU and local publications and congress posters within strategy of the product
- First medical HCP contact at EU Congresses and symposia,
- Content input, providing medical slide decks, briefing KOLs for congress and symposia presentations, within brand strategy
- Medical information on requests to HCPs and medical Presentations to HCPs within Brand strategy
- Develop SOPs and Working Instructions to improve efficiency, quality and compliance in processes related to ophthalmology
- Handling Investigator-Initiated trials (IIT) : Internal approval and contracting
- Approval of contracts for external (consultancy / speaker) activities with HCPs
- Develop medical training decks and give medical training for commercial colleagues in the field on disease and product + testing knowledge
- Medical scientific and strategic input on Marketing projects and materials in collaboration with the EU Marketing & Sales Manager
- Ensure all Medical and Marketing projects, materials and presentations are compliant to pharmaceutical codes.

Work experience
Minimum of 5 years of Medical Affairs experience in the pharmaceutical industryPeople management experienceInternational working experience in Pharmaceutical IndustryInternational Strategic and operational experience in pre-launch and launch activitiesExperience in Marketing and or Commercial function in Pharmaceutical IndustryOphthalmology network and experience (preferred)Experience in setting up studies, preferable working with CRO
